  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can anyone recommend a good dealership service department in the Chicagoland area? My dealership Family Hyundai isn't cutting it. I took my car in yesterday for an oil change along with the drivers seat warmer issue (2nd time). I took a couple videos of the warmer cutting off after 2 minutes, the service writer didn't bother to look at it. Low and behold my seat was okay by their diagnosis, on the drive home of course it didn't work. I was called in the office because of 2 recommended not required services. I declined then I asked about the brake fluid change TSB and guy hadn't even checked. He pulled my VIN and I was part of the TSB.... he goes on to say you know it takes at least 2 hours like it was an issue. I got it done but I'm starting not to trust them.

I can't help with the dealer issue, but have you ever got a bad smell from the driver seat with the seat heater on? I had this same issue on my car, and it was fixed under warranty easily. The temp control basically fried itself on my seat, which was causing a bad smell prior to the light not staying on. Eventually, the heated seat light would only stay on for a few seconds and shut back off.

When I asked Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg about the brake fluid issue they weren't even aware of it, only after asking them specifically to check for it they said "oh, yeah....there is a service bulletin". They also said it would take them around 2 hours to flush the fluid. Maybe they have to flush it a few times with the new fluid to be sure all of it has been flushed out, not sure.

Gurnee Hyundai, while horrible for buying the car (not flexible on price and all their Genesis had horrible swirl marks, on brand new cars), I bought mine from Patrick, seemed to be nicer for oil changes with a more updated interior and better waiting area. When I asked them not to wash my car they respected my wish. I didn't do anything more serious through them.

One good thing about Patrick Hyundai is that prices for parts seem not to be inflated as in every other dealership. I found out when shopping for the paint marker and wiper blades. Definitely go there for parts, unless it is extremely out of the way. All the service bulletins so far have also been handled by them. I had a problem with the trunk rubbing against the rear bumper and they gave me a loaner car for the few hours it took for them to buff out the bumper and adjust the trunk stop (although the issue is coming back again). So that was nice.

So none of the dealers I've been to so far are perfect, but they are OK.

Pugi in Downers Grove "gets" it in terms of service. I can't speak to parts inflation since my '09 Gen and '11 Equus have never been out of warranty, but any campaigns or normal service have been done expediently and courteously.
How they treat someone who isn't a customer though? Haven't a clue.

Happy Hyundai. I am from Southern Indiana but was in Chicago for a funeral last August and had a minor problem. They fixed it washed the car and said have a nice day.....didn't charge me a penny.

If that isn't good service I don't know what is. They knew I would probably never be back and still did it for free ...on a 2009 Genesis.

Highly recommend!
