  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do you have premium package on your 3.8? The rain sensing wipers are equipped on 3.8 with premium packages, tech packages and R spec. Also, how bad is the chip? if it is not severe, I would repair the windshield rather than replacing it. The cost for the OEM windshield is crazy!

Due to sound absorbing material in windshield, the price is about $800+ even for without rain sensing wipers. Take it to a windshield repair shop and see if they can fix it without replacement. Some insurance companies pay for fixing chips/cracks.

Just had a chip repaired last week. Something flew out from a construction site and chipped it; not another car on the road at the time. USAA paid for it fully. Tech did it in my garage in about 30 minutes. I can't even see where it was unless the sun s just right, and then I have to know where to look to see it.

As stated get a pro to repair or replace it and let your insurance pay some or all of it.

I had my windshield replaced three years ago. Repair wasn't an option, since what started out as a small crack on the driver's side grew considerably. I ended up not getting the OEM replacement, since my insurance company wouldn't cover the entire cost. The one I got has been fine, though.

You would know if you had the rain sensor. you wiper switch will have an "auto" setting.
