  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So….I recently purchased a base 2012 3.8 Sedan. I have both original fobs and the doors and trunk all lock and unlock as they should.
When I lock the doors they lock but there is NO audible chirp or lights flashing. When the car is opened, the lights flash and chirp.
Every other car I’ve driven chirps and flashes when locked. Is the Genny different?
It’s not a big deal either way, just curious if all of the Genesis’ behave this way or is it just my car?

Some cars have a two stage "lock" notification.
Press lock once for silent locking, press twice for horn honk.
I don't have a base model, but in the Tech Models there is an option in the vehicle settings to turn the chirp on and off.

I appreciate your input. I looked through the owners manual and tried multiple pushes on the fob, still no luck. Id be interested if any members on this group has the same issue with the the non-tech model car and could suggest a fix. If I could hear a chirp, I could just walk away from the car. I always find myself testing the handle to be sure it is indeed locked.

Thanks Toxi. I appreciated that thread. My car was missing the rubber hood pad that pushes the alarm switch. I replaced pad with part in picture to resolve. It really had me going crazy trying to figure it out so thanks again!!
Good deal. Now enjoy the sweet car.
