If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, this is my first thread.
Nice to meet you all

I am going to buy 2012 genesis 3.8 premium pkg next week.
OTD price is 36,600.
I liked everything with this car. but having a problem.

My wife likes gray color than platinum silver. However, genesis with gray color has its windshield cracked during transportation (dealer said), and have to replace the windshield.

I'd rather buy silver one, because exchanging windshield makes this new car to used car. However, wife likes gray color. Is there no problem buying a car that windshield changed?

As this price is confined to the cars in their parking lot, we have to choose between two cars. e.g, silver one and windshiled changed gray one...

I am looking forward your advices....

Thank you ahead.

I had the windshield replaced in my 2010 Genny, and while they did a great job as far as looks, etc. I did however have a squeak present pulling into uneven driveways that I didn't have before my windshield was replaced. I'd go with the silver.

Thank you for your reply.
Is silver good color, isn't it??

Silver is easy to maintain. My Mercedes is silver and I love the color, second only to white for ease of upkeep.

Thank you ... I have to consider it....:):)

I have the silver and like it very much. But the gray is very nice also. I think they can replace the windshield with the OEM part and you will not likely notice any problems. I have windshields replaced on several cars without problems. I think it depends on how much you want to gain points with your wife.

Yes, they said that windshield comes from Korea and there would be no problem with replacement. I hope so. Just concerning a new car turns into a used one...... Thank you for advice..

Everybody drives a used car.

The Genesis is a very quiet car. For some reason, every time I have had a windshield replaced, it is never as quiet as with the original windshield.

Never settle on a color that is NOT your favorite. You will regret it. Find another dealer that has the car you want... with a little phone work, you can get a matching offer within 100 miles of your location. Unless you live in the boonies!

grey cars hide dirt too... very easy to take care of.

unfortunately I'd say NO for buying the car with the cracked windshield.

basically Id push them and say thats the car i want, I'll take it for $1000 off or I'll goto xzy and get the same car with internet pricing thats 100% intact from the factory. Hell the damaged windshield could be from some unknown stress placed upon the car... F that.

anyways good luck, btw extended warranty for me was $1100 10/100 plat... you might be able to work an angle there too.

EDIT: the more i think about it... I'd like to know how the windshield dmg occurred... if something dropped on it NBD follow above... if it was RATCHETED down TOO FRIGGIN hard and it stressed the chasis ... DONT BUY THE CAR EVEN AT A DISCOUNT.

I have the Titanium Silver and it is much nicer than the gray. Gray is Gray.. Silver is where its at. :D

Do not take the car with the cracked windshield. You do not have to settle for what is on the lot, they can ship a car in for you that is not broken.

Good LUCK!:welcome:

Went to the site to verify the colors. One is Titanium Gray Metallic, this is the one I called Silver.

The other is lighter and called Platinum Metallic.

Titanium Gray Metallic is Best in my opinion. Is the car yours or your wife's? If it is yours, you need to get what you want and not settle.

They suggested this price is only for genesis in their inventory. And i have to buy until tomorrow. :(

The windshield should not be an issue in your decision as long as it is done with Hyundai glass and by a competent installer.

As to how it happen, here are the questions in order, was it in-transit damage? Any idea how, chain swing is likely...the over tensioning idea is not too probable.

If not , it occurred at dealer ship, do they know cause? It will not effect status of car as new ( unless your state has an in transit damage part of their DMV laws...even then it may be only that at the windshield dollars, they must disclose to buyer).

Interesting info from previous bmw owner... i can only assume other manufacturers are the same... basically cars are damaged in transit and as long as the repair is within a certain percentage 3%, it doesnt need to be disclosed to consumer... if over it does need to be.

many cars have damage bumpers, rims, hoods , etc from shipping and as long as they fix them , most customers would not even know... yeah sucks but thats how it is.

check the link... wonder how Hyundai does their stuff

You can see what was done to your car on the Hyundai hmaservice site. Instructions can be found here.

(I keep wanting to sing, "You down with PPP?!!! (yeah you know me!!!)"

It is driven by state DMV/federal issues as well as internal policy.
