  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Chrome Delete

Let me know how it goes!
Hey Otis! Hoping I can bother you with one more question. When you had your delete done did you have them vinyl the B posts/rest of the black gloss window trim or the gloss black on the mirrors? Wondering if you dislike the contrast between the satin black and gloss black in those areas. If you have a close up picture of the window area I’d love to see it but no big deal if not. Thanks again for your input.

I deleted everything chrome. Did not touch any of the glass. You can't really tell the difference between the gloss and chrome delete.

Akin to the chrome delete I did a few years ago, I just had my taillights and headlights tinted using xpel 50%.

Finished product after the wheels, chrome delete and ceramic.

I like it! Looks fantastic

looks menacing!

I went with the satin finish. Almost two years and the job is still holding up. If I had to do it again, I might not have done the grill because the camera protector stands out a lot more.
You went satin on the window bits too?

Took me 4 hours to take this dang bumper and grille off :ROFLMAO:. I'm excited to work on the chrome delete tomorrow, just have to decide if I just want to do the grille or do the grille and the border.

Thanks for sharing, yours looks great and it pushed me over to doing the grille surround. I'm still going to attempt the chrome delete on the grille itself cause someone backed up into it and broke through a few of the joints in the grille and I'm trying to hide all the JB Plastic Weld I dumped on the cracks.

Finally finished the grille, surround, and the badges on the back.

Will probably work on the door handles once I stop being lazy.

You’re right. I may just leave the border of it alone too. That “smoked” chrome just becomes old school bright chrome so fast on these cars
I have a 2023 G70 with dark chrome. I read your post and am now wondering just how soon the dark coating wears off. I've had my car for almost a year (February) and the trim looks factory perfect. ??

I could be wrong but I think it's mostly in higher heat areas

Interesting. Even if true, that doesn't sound normal for this to happen "fast". I had a 2019 with the same trim and it never wore off/down. My 2023 G70 have ceramic coated trim, but the trim on the 2019 G70 was not ceramic coated.

Has anyone tried dipping the trim instead of a wrap? Interested in trying this route before attempting a vinyl wrap on trim pieces. I'd imagine it'd be a lot easier to do.
