In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Although I own an Equus, i am posting here because of greater exposure....

I am looking to spray some foaming cleaner on my air conditioning condenser and am wondering if it could be done by spraying up the drain tube, or alternately, drilling a small hole in the area between the condenser and fan to spray it into.

Has anyone done this, and if so, what are your recommendations?

Can one get at the condenser easily?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks...I want to kill the mildew spores, etc., and I think best way is to hit them where they live-in the coil housing at firewall.

I've been told by a dealer that they inject the foam cleaner up the drain pipe.

I had this issue on my E39 540IT

Several things needed to be done.

1 - clean air coming in form the outside
2 - clean air inside the cabin

Outside Air
remove air filter to bring in outside air
set A/C to bring in fresh air from outside
Turn on car / and A/C on high
Spray can of lysol in to the cabin fresh air intake
wipe vents from lysol

Inside Air
remove interior / recirculate filter
set a/c to recircultate
Turn on car / and A/C on high
Spray can of lysol in to the recirculate air intake
wipe vents from lysol

let sit overnight

repeat next morning

I did this the first time... and then re-did the process after a month or so.

Worked well.

Great tip marinakorp... Thanks for sharing. :)

Don't forget that Lysol comes in different scents.

This thread has been alive for awhile.....I posted it originally, and used a foaming cleaner injected into the drain pipe underneath the car. It had a lemon scent that was noticeable for about a week afterward.

However, the issue in my car was not mold/mildew. Actually, I found out later that it was the smell from the new windshield wiper blades I installed. Never had any that smelled like this! Dealer was puzzled too.....

The intake air vent is next to the windshield wiper blades and pulled in air past them. It really did smell like mildew!
