If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if there is a Clear Bra kit for the Genesis?:grouphug:

Yes, I purchased one (3m Defender) for about $200. Waiting for a spell of warmer weather to put it on. Dealers don't seem to know much about them. There are more and more after market places that have them and do the install. Installation by a pro will be around $200.

From 3 cars experience- DO NOT attempt to install it yourself. Unlike window timt, this stuff is heavy and thick. It must be heated and stretched to adhere and cover. Additionally, it uses an alcohol based solvent that dries ultra-fast.
From experience, trying to do it yourself and you will end up with a wad of clear plastic.
Pay an installer. You'll be glad you did!

Where did you purchase it? Which components did you buy?

I also heard it's a VERY difficult install! And I think it looks better on some colors than others. I remember seeing a really dirty clear front on a Mercedes - it looked bad...

be forewarned you MUST be diligent in taking care of it for it not to yellow and look nasty in a relatively short amount of time. It is great to protect against rock chips and such, but if you get a tear in the clear bra it will look terrible in no time. I have one on my 2GS and it is great to stop rock chips and such but there is a tear near the bottom side of the bumper than doubled in size in a week. I finally took an exacto knife and cut out the bad part of the clearbra so it wouldnt continue growing but now you can tell where the clearbra has been removed. Not sure what caused the tear but I know it wasnt a rock. I paid over $700 for my install because it was all custom and it fit great, seams are hardly visible if you take good care of it. But it isnt as shiny as the paint so it is noticeable no matter how much you take care of it.

Got mine from ebay. Listening to the advise given. Just lined-up a trained installer for next week. Pro Installation only quotes came-in between $350 and $550 and takes upto 6 hours. Not sure this product is worth $700+ as you can repaint for almost that much.

There is definitely a kit for the Genesis. I had the 3M material fitted 3 days after I got my Genesis in September. This stuff is great I have it on three vehicles. Prices mentioned above are comparable to what I paid.

I echo the sentiment on self installation. I tried to do this on one vehicle (Toyota Sienna) and FAILED. It is easy to rip the material and you need a combination of soap spray to apply and move the kit on the bodywork, and then alcohol spray to get it to stick (drive out the soap mixture). I watched the professional do it after my bad experience.

The Genesis took around 6 hours for the installer to do. The kit I have comes at least 12 inches up the hood. I guess this is because the hood curves a lot at the front of the car. I was worried it would be visible once done. But it is not unless you are looking for the line standing right next to the car.

Its not worth it even though to repaint the area mine covers would cost more than $700. Thats why I wouldnt waste my money on a clear bra again. I am just very careful now

Rich, part of the problem is where I live. I think I wouldn't worry so much if I were fortunate enough to live in Florida, but the roads in the mid-atlantic area are a true mess and getting worse! I just need the clear bra to last until Obama gets the road crews going...!

Keep in mind you're referring to a government institution where the lowest bidder gets the job....I don't think the roads will be improving much....

I see. You are right we don't have a lot of problems with rock chips here. If we did I would think about having another clearbra installed. Just keep up with the maintanance on it and you shouldn't have any dulling or discoloration
