  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just ordered my eBay pre-cut 3M PRO kit.

I imagine the hood, and the actual bumper will be the most difficult parts. The rest of the pieces are small enough that they shouldn't be too hard. I figure I've got a somewhat fair feel for it after fooling around with my taillight tint a while back.

Will post a thread when I get it and begin installing it (will do a little bit at a time).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Well, I attempted to apply the 3M PPF on the front hood, tried to do the upper section that has the Genesis logo. I failed. Haha. I got it on there pretty good as the film actually isn't too bad to work with, but there were a couple particulates that embedded underneath, and with the sun out my solution dried up too quickly and I got several bubbles. Since I no longer have a garage I can't protect it from the elements... Oh well. I decided I don't have enough patience to do it properly, so I gave up. Lol.

If anybody wants the leftover PPF (which is almost all of it) let me know. Otherwise I'm tossing it.

Definitely worth it to pay someone to do it for you, in my opinion. Especially if it's only $800 like above!

Edit: when I said the hood I actually meant the front upper bumper! 😣

My cost was 1200 with tax for the areas I described before. And like I said I am completely satisfied. I am surprised Tod that such a resourceful person as yourself couldn’t do it but it just goes to show how critical the installation process could be.

Definitely an art, no question about it. Also, having a garage, I think, is a must. Lastly, I hurt my back pretty bad a little over a month ago and it seems my patience runs thin very quickly as it's always hurting now.

Excuses. Regardless, I still failed. Lol. Anyway, I know other members here are more than capable of properly applying this stuff.

I agree with you Toddasaurus it definitely is an art form. I dont think I would have the patients for it either...

Damn Todd, sorry to hear. I don't have the patience or experience as you, and I suffer from a bad back as well.

I've been contemplating getting PPF at the cost of around $1100 or letting the rock chips take it's course and instead get it repainted in the future. 🤷‍♂️

I have had ppf on 3 different vehicles now. My truck for 13 yrs, Subie for 7 yrs. The other one we sold to buy the truck. That car had a rock hit the hood putting a dent in the hood. Film was torn, hood was not scratched. The new owner appreciated that the film was on the car, which may have help seal the deal.
One thing that has not been mentioned, is that it helps cut down on the yellowing of the headlamps. My truck is outside all the time. Headlights are still clear.
The wife mentioned the other day that the film on the truck has a lot of scratches on the film on the hood. But, they are on the film and not the paint.
You can polish the film. Will most likely get it done on the G70. After I do some more paint correction.
As a side note, We have a glass front door and 4 dogs. I put ppf on the door to protect it. Works great. I changed it once and have another sheet to do it again. Scratch the film and not the glass.

2020 Black G70 Sport did the entire front clip, hood, fenders, bumper, etc in Xpel Ultimate it was $2,000. This is the 5th or 6th car I have done the front clip on. It is pretty amazing when you can sell a car 3 or 4 years later with 80K miles and it still looks new.

To those that got Xpel, do you see a seem if you went partial? Like on the hood? Or maybe you all just did the full front end where there are defined end points? Also, why Xpel vs. others? I'm thinking about them but I also own some stock in them so getting some first hand feedback. This stuff sounds better than 3M clear bra, but how does one know? I did a quick look around me and it seems that Xpel is what the folks are installing...I'm not going to try 3M, etc, by myself..No patience or skill here.
TIA

Xpel is a premiere wrap as is 3m. The installation of this product should be left to professionals, in my opinion. You cannot see the seam on the hood unless you look closely, like two to three feet away.

Agreed If done professionally by an approved installer it's very hard to tell.

I am looking at quotes locally. Can G70 owner share what they paid? Please provide brand (Xpel, Sun Tek, etc), coverage (front bumper/quarter hood, mirrors etc), location and price.
I am getting quotes from $785 to $1100 for full front bumper, 1/4 hood and mirrors.
My guy in Tukwila,Wa charges $990-for this 18-24" on leading edge/hood,leading edge of roof(did not do my '19 G70 for fear of adhesion issue/sunroof per installer),fog/headlights,door edges, front bumper cover,sm. fender pcs.,mirrors..my GF paid $1500 for her '18 Sorento SX-L but that included all of the front end-I swear by this, used to do the stuff myself but was mediocre at it, and the "parts" have gotten pricey! Hope this helps, the $990 is the usual charge regardless of what vehicle I have had done, and owner/installer does an A1 job and your beloved will remain road-rash free.

So I'm considering doing this for my 2022 G70 in Mallorca Blue. My question is the following, can I wash/wax the car? will this harm the film? If I only do the front end, would you be able to tell that the rest of the car wasn't wrapped?
Also, there is a touchless car wash that I use that does a FANTASTIC job.... I've seen a lot of high-end cars go through it.... If you guys don't recommend that I have a guy that does great wash/wax/detailing. As far as price is concerned it's on par with what I have been quoted.
