Dear all: Recently I noticed that bird droppings and other unidentified "goo" has etched the clear coat on my 2015 genesis sedan in around an 8 hr period. Here is the scenario: went to work on a clean car, after work (8hrs) noticed the bird dropping/goo, drove home (~30 mins) placed a microfiber towel on the area and dowsed it with clean water, waited for it to soften and then wiped-off.
Upon asking Hyundai/Genesis I was told this damage is not covered by warranty. I find it highly abnormal that the clear coat would be damaged in this fashion on such a short time.
Is this in the opinion of the collective normal/expected or is the clear coat on my vehicle abnormally soft/weak?
Our other cars (Mitsubishi, Toyota, Honda, Lotus and Ducati) had never suffered this.
