  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have else having their clear coat peeling from the rear bumper?
I doubt its still covered, so I am looking for ideas on what to do. Peal it all off or live with it?

It all depends on what you want it to look like, the paint warranty on that car is over after 1 year.
The only real cure is to take it to a body shop and have it stripped and re clear coated if they can save the paint, if not a repaint is in order with clearcoat.

Any possibility that the bumper cover was replaced or repainted by a body shop?

You didn't mention model year, or whether you purchased the car new or used.

Sorry, its a 2010 with 100k on it. Bought it used, not sure if the bumper was replaced. The car fax showed it clean, so if it was it wasn't for a major issue.

Being 7 years old, although it's not real common, if it's always outside it's possible the clear coat is peeling from age.

I had my plastic bumper cover replaced due to scratches and scrapes, which means it had to be painted by a body shop. It's just a plastic cover, and doesn't require the bumper to be replaced. I doubt it would be reported in a Carfax, etc.

One thing I found out about auto painting is that an epoxy needs to be added to the clear coat to make it durable, so good to have it done by a quality body shop.

Since I had it its been garage kept. I will just swing by a shop and see what they say. Worse comes to worse...I'm going to dip the whole damn car.
