  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

See my short video via Youtube to hear what it sounds like, but for the past two weeks my 13K mile 2015 Ultimate 5.0 has been giving me this clicking noise at startup that lasts about 5-8 seconds. It goes away after that and doesn't return until the car has been shut off and then restarted again. The noise seems to be coming from the area right behind that center speaker near the windshielf, and I'm guessing has something to do with the A/C system or some type of louver that's getting stuck when opening?

Thoughts? I'll be bringing it up with the dealership when I take it in for my 15K mile service, but that's not for another couple of months and this issue is pretty annoying.

Actuator for the climate control? Have you tried changing the fan speed or re-circulation?

It seems that you have music playing from the jukebox (Sweet Emotion). What is the icon on the far right of the screen?

It's for sure something with the climate control. Turning off the re-circulation did nothing, clicking still there. I'll try the fan speed to see if that does anything, but starting the car with the climate control set to OFF eliminates the problem.

The icon on the far right (bottom) is a replay icon for the jukebox... I think that's where you can randomize the songs or repeat a folder, not sure, haven't messed with that feature (but it's not climate control related).

Thanks

I have the same problem.. I'll bringing mine into the dealer in a few weeks i guess.. I only have 11.6k miles.. I hope its a simple fix and covered under warranty.. Kinda glad I'm not the only one that has this problem..

Any update on this?

so, if you start the car with climate set to OFF, then hit the AUTO button you don't get the noise? weird!

Most cars have multiple actuator motors for air and temp. control. And they have plastic gears that break or wear out.

If they fail, better have a warranty. One very time consuming and difficult repair.

Incorrect. If I start the car with climate on OFF, then hit AUTO, the clicks start then...

I have an appointment set for Tuesday, we shall see.

Just heard from the dealership after they pulled apart the dashboard and now we're waiting until Friday for the replacement part:

It's an actuator that's stuck trying to open a flap for the A/C, which is pretty much what I had expected.

I'm going to bring mine in soon also.. I guess I'll have to wait for a part also. We should be covered under warranty right?

Yeah, it was fully covered by the warranty. My part came in a day early and I got it back on Thursday. Good as new!
