  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any way to stop this from happening? I'm sick of shutting it off every time I start the car.

Is is set to Auto? If so, it'll come on full blast if it's very hot or cold until it establishes the desired temperature. It should die down after a couple of minutes. Try setting it to manual before you stop the car (change the fan speed manually, the blue light above the Auto button should go out). It may remain in manual at the fan speed you selected the next time you start the car.

Yep, this is how auto works on most vehicles. It responds to the immediate temp in the vehicle. If it's been sitting in the sun - it will be very hot. If in the winter - it will be very cold. Either set your fan speed to manual or shut it off before you exit the car.

I have pushed the off button on the climate control before turning off the car and it still does it when I restart the car. Is that normal?

One other suggestion... if you are in hot weather, try raising the temp control to 74 or 75 or so. (or even 78) The fan will likely come on a bit high, but shift down much faster.

Same strategy works in cold climates.... set to 68 or less. This will moderate the fan speed. You may find that these settings make more sense anyway. I set my home for 68 in the winter, but 78 in the summer. For the car I'll go about 74 in the summer when it's hot, and about 67-68 in the winter. That works well when wearing a coat.

Mine makes the most noise when auto-defrost decides to activate. I turned it off in the settings because it will sometimes actually fog up the windows by coming on at the wrong time.

The main "auto" setting comes on at high fan but then slows down when the AC gets going. It does not seem to do the same thing for heat, I guess it waits for the engine to warm up first.

Yeah I do not quite understand that. Blowing cold air around does not help the issue. It should stay low until the coolant temp rises and then warms up the heater core.

In heat mode the fan should not turn on unless the heater core is warmed to a certain temperature. Does this happen?

No, it is not normal. It should stay off.
