  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Clocks not working

No clock issues. 2015 3.8 ultimate with 12.5 nav version in Cali.

My digital and analog clocks are not working. The digital show blank:blank and the analog shows the wrong time. the clock controls are grayed out on the screen (yes I was parked and had the audio off). Any one know what might be wrong. No other issues with the display system. Maps are working.
Having the same problem here in New Jersey. Dashes on the display where the time normally displays and no date is showing. Noticed this on Saturday, August 17th. Tried to reset but the options are "grayed" out. Anyone have a solution? I was going to update my SD card through the website but they want to charge $175 plus tax! No thanks.

The "fix" seems to be removing and reinserting the map SD card and then pressing reset.

Genesis service told me the satellite is out since last Saturday. .
Hyundai never put anything out about it or did they know when it would be back.

This is Satellite problem since Sat. as told to me by Hyundai service. They never posted or know when coming back.

Use the reset button on the disk player. One of those tiny reset buttons that you use a pen, key, or gem clip to press. Hold down a few seconds. Turn audio system back on. Should be fixed. My clocks stopped working over the weekend as well so probably something with the GPS satellite, but anyway, just reset your audio system.

Who owns the satellite that is out? That is one of the potential problems with technology, we depends on third and fourth parties for it to work.

I found this interesting.
As of December 2018, 73 Global Positioning System navigation satellites have been launched, 31 of which are operational, 9 in reserve, 1 being tested, 30 have been retired and 2 were lost at launch. The constellation requires a minimum of 24 operational satellites, and the official target count is 33.

GPS is a constellation of 24 satellites that now can tell everyone where he or she is in the world (the initial constellation cost $12 billion to put into orbit). The operating cost works out to just over $2 million a day.

Just wanted to share some sold data. that might be useful to some people that might like a bit more information on the subject:

So it’s a satellite problem that effects some GPS units which all happen to be older models? And this “satellite” problem magically can be fixed by resetting the ground GPS unit. Sorry not buying it. Lots of (newer) GPS systems are working just fine from the same brands. I believe it is more likely some bad programming used in older units.

Or perhaps, more accurately, if the firmware have been updated recently?
May be we should start a poll that documents which firmware/map version everyone has, as well as the location, I will start the poll:

2015 5.0 tech, map version 8.5, with AA/ACP update.
2016 3.8 ultimate, map version 12.5.
(Both) have been working without any type of reset.
Location: NE/GA.

I am hopeful that the rest of community, that may have or not have experienced this issue, can help everyone to find an underlying pattern for this issue.
Who knows if we find the newer versions address this issue, we all might get a free map update out of this poll?.... 🍺

Seems most are 2015/16 models. Chances are some never updated along the way. Yes, it would be good to know what versions are affected. What we don't know is the real cause. Was it a shortcut in programming? A change in the way satellites are read? Seems some were able to fix with a reset, yet others did not. That may be a part of the particular version also.

I have a 2015 in High Point, NC. I pulled the NAV card and waited 30 seconds twice before the clock came back. FYI, I have the latest update as of June.

SOLUTION:

There are 11 pages of instructions for the multitude of fuse boxes throughout the car. From the IMs I concluded that the multimedia system controls the clock. I've unfortunately learned that nowadays every thing is microprocessor based (i.e. some kind of computer), so generally a solution will be to 'reboot' the micro-processor. Pages 7-66 and 7-77 denote the Instrument panel fuse panel. The 20 Amp 'multimedia' fuse on this panel did the trick. I unplugged it for about 20 seconds, plugged it back in and the clock restored display, with the 'analog' clock quickly spinning into position. For my 2015 car, its the fuse panel to the left of the steering column, yellow (20A) fuse in 3rd column counting from the left, 2nd fuse down.

Let's hope is doesn't go haywire again.

That did not work for me. Grand Rapids, mi

Where is the SD card in these units? Although the fuse reset worked for me I'd like to know for future updates. Also - where is the reset button/pin/hole on the CD(?) unit?

The SD card is behind the black rubber cover that says "SD Map" on center of the radio row of buttons. It has to be pried open with a thin coin or screwdriver.

The pin hole is just above the CD slot on the right side

Thanks - for the SD card - are we able to get updates or is this a revenue stream for Hyundai?
