Clutch Transmission Clunky Rattle New 2013 2.0T

Hi all, I am new to the forum and just purchased a new 2.0T Coupe 6 speed manual a little over a week ago. First day I had it, I noticed a clunky/rattle coming between 1 and 2 shifts and sometimes 3rd. Not noticeable when downshifting or in higher gears. Very noticeable when in 1st and engaging the clutch...problematic noise in traffic, between lights or in a parking lot. This noise is driving me nuts..sounds like a tractor.

Dealership says this is "normal" when I test drove with the shop foreman. Something about the flywheel and mounts...I also drove another new coupe and it makes the same noise but not quite as bad.

Any thoughts/experiences?

Bottom line is this car is brand new and I'm not a happy camper. Cars been at the dealership for 3 days and service says they are going to call Hyundai Canada for more info. Does not appear to be any TSB's out there yet. If I had heard this noise when test driving, I probably would not of purchased. I love everything else about this car. Frustrated in Ottawa.

Ya love the car but mine does exactly what you are describing. Do you find that the clutch "pops" back up on you? Really hard to be smooth in first and second? I've only had mine a few weeks. The clutch is super loud. Also when I turn mine off it clunks really loud if the clutch isn't engaged. Overall manual trans is really loud and clunky. They told me at the dealership that it was normal to. Pretty frustrating that a brand new car for 26,000 tends to sound like everything is breaking. 2013 2.0t manual.

From what I've read, that's just a quirk of the dual-mass flywheel. When you suddenly drop all load from it, the two plates will rattle back and forth, bounced about by their springs. You can induce a pretty humorously loud *chuckachuckachuck* by getting up to about 5mph then punching the clutch in while it's still in gear.

Glad it's not just me.. I have a 3.8 Track manual and it does the same thing....

I own an automotive repair shop and had a customer who was having issues with her 2010 Hyundai genesis clutch and ordered 2 different clutch and ended up not being able to return one. We are now selling for her and she purchased for 1300.00 and we will sell for 900.00 OBO. It works PERFECTLY it is just a high performance clutch and was to hard for her to shift. has less than 10 miles on it. Our shop is Clones Complete Car Care we are in Phoenix Arizona. It is the entire clutch and fly wheel kit. It is everything but the throw out bearing.
