  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there a guide anywhere for how to install a set of coilovers on a 2012 sedan? There are written and video guides available for the coupe all over the place, but I've turned up empty for the sedans.

I do have a 2009 shop guide from one of our members but those can be a bit sparse for the shade tree mechanic. Any guidance is appreciated!

It's pretty straight forward. If you've ever done coilover installs before, you will have no issue. I will say that due to positioning of some of the bolts, air tools are a must. you just can't get the leverage otherwise.

Never done coils myself before. I have an impact wrench, albeit a large electronic one but with substantial torque nonetheless. Not afraid of tools and working on my car, but don't want to try something out of my league.

The shop manual does reference a special tool that is needed. Did you find this necessary?

I can't recall any special tools needed. My cousin and I did the install, but he works on cars so has a lot of odd tools. I would not try this with an electric. I used a 5gal compressor and could not break some of the bolts loose, which is why I enlisted my cousin's help. It's been a year though, so I really cannot offer much more help...

Well, received some good news related to the info you mentioned in the other thread TW. Megan did provide the higher spring rate springs for the V8 in the set I ordered per my request. Getting excited. Should be here Friday.

Should be good. I was debating on whether to just get the Megans with V8 spring rates or wait for the BC's and decided to wait out for the BC's.

I considered the same thing. Seems like BCs are a bit higher quality welds and shocks but for general street use people seem content with the Megan.

I've heard the same - I know that those I've spoken with in the Genny community do not like the Megans, but the Lexus community did. I haven't called BC yet; i really need to.

Tailwalker,

What coilovers do you have, on what sedan?

How is the ride quality?

I have a 14 Rspec and I've been considering the next step after I buy some rubber for my new wheels and install my brembo retro fit.

So you got wheels finally? Fantastic! Pics, or it didn't happen. lol

I really like the BC's. I have the 4.6, so for you I would recommend the higher spring rate and overvalved combo. The ride was better than stock initially (8k springs) but deteriorated and settled over time due to the added weight. The 10k front I was given as replacement have ridden well, but I've been waiting for some nice fellow in FLA to go by BC and get the rears re-worked. Seems like that's good now, so I should be getting my new rear setup shortly.

Dude, I have called them numerous time's about my willingness to go to their shop they are an hour away.

In fact at one point I was supposed to be the one getting test fitted but, never heard back from them.

We had someone go by the beginning of July....I thought it was you. lol. On the phone with them now.

That was me, I spoke to them 2 maybe 3 months ago, went in to see them in early july at that time they indicated to me that they would have a product out in a reasonably short period.

Tampa - BC said they still needed a car. Can you reach out?
They said they needed a car to mount and test, but wanted it to be someone who was going to buy at that time.

Thanks again to everyone involved!

damn, I need a loan anyone.. anyone lmao. I will have to figure out something.

LOL, you need to figure something out quickstyle as I'm waiting to buy these once they are confirmed working.

Dude... I have emailed them this week about it. They never respond to me. I'm actually getting a bit fed up with their poor business practices to be honest.

Yeah, I can understand that. Try calling, and talk to Sam. That's the best i can offer...

They actually emailed me today. I am looking to see when they want me to come and the discount they are offering.

Stay tuned.
