  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I took my car in for service and was told a diagnostic check showed my spark plugs and 3 of the 6 coils needed to be replaced. After thinking about and looking up info online, I find it odd that the engine ran just fine, my gas mileage was good, and I had no “check engine” light. Thoughts?

Why did they run a diagnostic? What's the current mileage and year of your car? Sounds like a money grab to me.

I brought it because it would “miss” or “shudder” for a couple of second in lower gears at low RPMs. Otherwise, like up to speed on the highway, it ran perfectly.

Their diagnosis of bad coils could very well account for this. How many miles, and what year?

2019. 65,0000
After doing all that, they determined in was the transfer case and Genesis is covering 60% even though the warranty is up. (I’m not the original owner).

I’m just curious if it’s feasible to have bad spark plugs, 3 bad coils and have not so much as a check engine light.

It would be unusual, but not impossible if they are marginal. The PCM counts misfires, but does not trigger the check engine light until the count goes beyond a particular threshold. I have seen this with some Lincoln/Jaguar cars.
