  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Cold Air/Heater

I think we all understand that this system could be improved. There should be no fan speed until system is capable of providing air flow somewhat warmer than interior temperature of car in winter months.

Since we're on the subject has anyone else noticed that the "sniffer" detects just about everything except skunks?

My '09 4.6 Tech HVAC worked correctly today, as it always does:

System set to Auto at 72F. Start up, 50F outside. Fan barely detectable. Get about 1/2 mile down the road, and I notice the fan starts spinning up and out comes warm air.

End of work, 80F outside, car is over 100F inside. System still set to Auto at 72F. Start up and fan spins up immediately blasting out cold air before I get out of the parking lot.

I have had similar problems. From what I can tell, the program for the HVAC is pretty bad and in need of a software upgrade. I don't know whether the program uses the sensor inside the car, a sensor in the air flow if one, or whatever but here is what I find.
1.) I have had the same problem with hot air coming from the rear vent and unable to change it at times.
2.) I have not found a means to use the system simply as an outside air vent.
3.) I I select the outside air filter without selecting either A/C or Auto, the system will turn on the recirculate and maybe A/C by itself. The A/C light never comes on when this happens to indicate the A/C is operating.
4.) It appears that whatever you are trying to do with the HVAC system, it seems to automatically base how it operates off of the temperature setting. So if it decides it needs A/C, the A/C comes on, if it decides it needs to turn on the inside air recirculating then it does, if it decides to change the fan speed, it does. Note all is done automatically when Auto has not been selected.
It appears that Hyundai has a problem with the programming in the tech unit and are unwilling to admit it and unwilling to correct it and unwillingly to even talk about it.
I do not have a problem with the dealership as much as Hyundai. It would appear that the dealers have as much problem as I do in talking with Hyundai.
What has been your experience ?
