  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Color choice?

Debating the comparative dust-hiding ability of different types of black paint is like debating which is the tallest of the seven dwarfs. Doesn't matter - they're all short.

I took Parisian Gray that it changes it color every time depending on the light

My G1 was Parisian Grey with black interior, that paint was very nice and a breeze to maintain. On my G2 I took a chance on a black (again because I've had two others) with grey interior. IMO is the most elegant color you can see on a luxury car but is a full time job to maintain. I had to renew my whole detailing arsenal, clay bars, compound, polisher, wax (paste and liquid), sealant, detailer, IPA and many more. Let's see how long can I stand this. Last time I had a black car I swore not to buy another but again I'm in the same boat.

I have a black 2011 sedan with saddle interior. I had to look high and low for this color combo and I love it. I've been ready to buy a new one for three years now, but no saddle or dark brown interior is offered. It's a deal breaker for me. Don't know why they don't offer more selection; all the German lux sedans offer this combo. Don't know what's offered for G80.

I don't have one yet, but my preference is Empire State Gray with the Ivory interior. From what I see available i'm not goign to get my preference =P I could live with Empire State Gray and Black interior. I don't like the tan interior at all.

I have a 2016 Ultimate 3.8 AWD in Empire State Gray with the Ivory interior. I like it. However, it was on the lot and the first I could find that was not one that I DIDN'T want.

I owned a black/black car once and have since vowed I would never own a black car again - interior or exterior!. I was gorgeous when cleaned, but five minutes later it showed every dust, dirt and scratch mark imaginable. (I don't care how well you take care of your car, they do eventually get scratched and dinged.)

Also, we now live 6 months in New England and 6 in Arizona with plans to eventually move to AZ full time. In New England when we were shopping it was real difficult to find a car that did not have a black interior. However, in Arizona, black is the LAST color I would want. So, my first suggestion is to realize to what degree (pun intended) sun and heat play into the comfort of the occupants getting into the car when it has been parked in the summer sun for hours.

Next, black DOES get dirty, it just doesn't show it as quickly. But when it does begin to show, it is REAL dirty. I would rather have the light colored interior and clean it regularly (with little effort) than have a black interior that gets real dirty and is then a real pain to get clean, and that's if it hasn't already reached the point where it is stained beyond being able to be cleaned. I keep some cleaning supplies in the trunk and use them as necessary. Our kids are now older and out of the house but we do have grandchildren who are with us often and all I can say is that none of them have been trained on what not to do in a car. Even though we tell them what to do with their trash, we are always finding wrappers, food spills, sticky candy, etc. when they go home. But I will still prefer a lighter color over black any day.
