  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anybody know what vehicles currently qualify for the competitive owner rebate or how I can find out before speaking with the dealer? Specifically interested in knowing if an Acura TL qualifies. Also do all dealers honor the coupon? Thanks.

I'll be at the dealer this evening, and my girlfriend owns a TL. I'll ask the sales manager and post his answer.

Awesome. Thanks sarge. Gotta love this forum.

I just spoke to the Sales Manager by telephone, just to make sure we are still straight for tonight. I asked about the competive owner coupon eligibility. The Accura TL qualifies for a $1500 rebate.

Hyundai seems to be all over the place on what they consider to be eligible for the competitive vehicle.

e.g. I received this note from Hyundai Consumer affairs after I got tired being jerked around by a few dealers on the competitive rebate:

Subject: Email Response from Hyundai Consumer Affairs /Competitive Vehicle Rebate, Hyundai Genesis Sedan

Dear WJY:

We appreciate your patience in awaiting our reply regarding what we consider a "competitive" vehicle for the rebate.

We have confirmed the primary set of competitive vehicles are as follows:

1. Chrysler 300C
2. Lexus ES350
3. Lincoln MKS
4. Cadillac CTR

The secondary set of competitive vehicles are:

1. Lexus GS
2. Infinity M
3. BMW 5-Series
4. Mercedes E-Class

We hope this information is helpful and have documented this additional information in your existing Case # 4055876.

Thank you for contacting Hyundai Consumer Affairs.

However, on the burnshyundai.com site, they post the following info regarding the competitive rebate
"Prices shown reflect all applicable rebates including $500 owner loyalty rebate on 2011 Sonata, $1500 owner loyalty rebate on Azera, $1500 owner loyalty/competitive rebate on Genesis sedan and $1000 owner loyalty/competitive rebate on Genesis Coupe - (must be a registered owner of a Hyundai or an immediate family member living in the same household for owner loyalty rebate. Must be a currently registered owner of any vehicle other than a Hyundai or Kia for competitive rebate). Low APR financing may not be combined with these rebates/selling prices."

The burns hyundai language is consistent with what nhparks posted in the prices paid forum.

I used the competitive car discount($1,500) when I bought my Genesis last week. My other car was a 2008 MINI Cooper S convertible. All the dealership needed was a copy of the title or a copy of the DMV registration.

That was it.

You shouldn't have a problem with an Acura TL.

I was told by my dealer that the only vehicle type that does not qualify is a Kia (owned by Hyundai and therefore, not competitive). I traded a Toyota pickup on my 2011 Genesis and got the $1500 rebate. Could it be that some dealers are not totally honest?
