  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've found a situation that totally stumped the Genesis' nav system and has earned it the name Crazy Sarah. Driving to a cabin on Beech Mountain, NC I followed the nav systems directions even though I knew them to be wrong and Crazy Sarah ended up directing us in endless circles. 1.8 miles to destination... take next right... 2.5 miles to destination... over and over with the outlined course on the screen often looking like a capital "Q or R". We were laughing so hard we did the loop three times just for the fun of it.

But in the car's defense it is a running joke on the mountain to not trust GPS directions no matter what brand. The mountain is covered with parallel roads and switchbacks with steep terrain and trees limiting the number of visible satellites. Still it's funny to see it draw a circular course.

I ran into the second place (location) today where the nav system in my coupe shows a turn in one direction but the verbal instructions say to go the opposite way.

In Richmond, Va, when driving north on Hugonout Rd. (not sure I spelled that correctly) the map shows a left turn onto Alverser Drive but the verbal instructions sayd to turn right.

In Fairlea, WV this morning while driving south on Rt. 219 the map showed a right turn/angle where the road splits and turns from two way travel to one way travel down opposite sides of the town/stores. However, the verbal commands said to turn left (which would have had me going head on at the one way traffic going north out of town.)

Maybe the folks that programmed the nav systems can't read maps.:D
