  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just found out that there are 3 packages and each cost $99 per year, which is 300 total per year. Isnt this excessive?
also, one of package is called guidance. Below is description. Does this mean if my trial runs out, I wont be able to use GPS route guidance???

Guidance

Connected Care subscription required

Features:
  • Destination search
  • Destination send-to-car
  • Route guidance
  • Multimedia & navigation updates

Agree once we start having to pay the price stinks. To get remote start you must have 2 of the 3 packages so minimum $200 to keep that feature. The map and destination feature, not so sure about but pretty sure one of the map updates offloaded a lot of that connectivity from the car to the cloud. Once your connected services ends, not real sure from a nav standpoint what is affected and still functions normally or not If the car is no longer talking to the cloud? May be no issue at all but during all the nav update issues some folks have had I remember one of the updates made specific updates for nav connectivity needing that service for full functionality.

I just renewed my connected service. They expired on the 23rd I renewed on the 25th. Connected care and remote for $118.00 combined for a year.

How did you get that price? Was that the offered price? Mine is set to expire in May and I want to renew.

I called to renew, but I was hesitant because of what I thought was the price. I ride a motorcycle in the summer so didn't want to pay for 7 months I wouldn't be using service. She told me to enroll in connected care and call back and she would give me a discount for both. She said I can pay monthly if I don't want to commit to the year, but it would be cheaper. So that's what i did. Call them.

Good info, thanks. Not sure I’ve heard of anyone else here being offered a deal just yet? I’m still a good ways down the road to need to renew, but if it is possible to squeak out a deal, it’s worth trying. $100 to $125 yearly I think would increase membership and keep folks enrolled who might otherwise drop at renewal time when cost is $200+.

Connected services not worth any price. Non value added.

it's funny how many on this forum complain about the pricing of the Hyundai Blue Link after their 3 year free trial considering that Hyundai is the one of the lowest priced and most bang for the buck in the industry and the service 100% optional.

  1. Toyota/Lexus 4 tiers have to have tier 1 to get tier 2 and 1 and 2 to get tier 3 and 1,2,3 to get tier 4 = $80 a tier. =$320/year
  2. OnStar 3 tiers; $15 for tier one and 2 $25 for tier 3 PER MONTH no annual plan discounts. Have to have tier 1 to get 2 and 1 and 2 to get 3 = $660 a year with a 5gb/mo data cap on the 4gLTE wi-fi
  3. BMW 3 tiers pricing from $60-$225 a year (no wi-fi) and $300 for car play/wi-fi connectivity (yes you have to pay for carplay) $25-$50 a year for traffic alerts ($25 is staggered 1 hour updates, $50 is real time updating)
  4. Mercedes $450 a year (though remote start is free for 5 years)
Those are just the ones I have had and bothered to look up right now. no clue on Infinity, Dodge, Honda, Range Rover, Jag, etc. but I suspect they all range from $300-$600 a year and have tiered pricing.

Bottom line is that it is an optional service, if you find value in it, then the price is what it is, no different than the cost of your cell phone, cable, internet or any other connected service.

Personally I think the biggest mistake Hyundai ever made was giving it away for free for 3 years, because it spoils everyone and then they bitch and moan about having to pay for it.

Most of the other makes only give it to you for 3-6 months.

Personally I have never found any value in it, so I don't buy it after the trial, same with sat radio. useless when I can stream free from my phone.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The update that causes it to stop communicating after 4 days is what turned me off. I only use the vehicle on the weekends, so the remote features are virtually useless with the change to "preserve battery life".

I had a mailing with a 50% off discount, but I guess I accidentally threw it away.

Used Android Auto on my Christmas vacation, the only down-sides were not having side-by-side nav + audio and no nav hints in the HUD (Android Auto doesn't sync with the HUD, boo). Plus, having to use the USB cable (no wireless Android Auto on '19 G70) in the tray is annoying (I usually keep my phone attached to the USB in the center console). So many restrictions and features not working with the car's features. Terrible implementation.

Navigation continues to work without a subscription. I updated to the latest software with the PC app. The latest blue-coloured map is an improvement. As I understand, "Destination Search" is voice search from within the car, and the other Guidance package feature is to send a destination from your phone, both of which are hardly useful given the price.

Are you sure that navigation continues to work? If that's the case, it's great. Then what is the guidance subscription for? Just the voice commands and things like that? I never use that anyway.

It also covers the "send to car" as well as "find Home Depot" stuff.

The factory subscription expired soon after I bought the car and I never renewed it. I updated the software offline and have been using the navigation everyday. The BlueLink service is not even activated.

Are you saying that we can't search for places on the map anymore? Regardless of using voice commands or not?

You can search directly from the map app. It’s only the voice assistant destination search that’s disabled (find X place in Y location). You can still use other voice commands including typing with voice in the map app.

I like they send from phone feature, it's easy to look up a business in the app and send it to the car. As soon as you start the car, you're promoted to navigate there. Quite handy.
