  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thoughts from owners?

CR lists it as below average reliability, but when you drill into it it seems every category is reliable except Body Integrity, Power Equipment, and In Car Electronics. Are they bad enough that I should be worried?

Thanks in advance!

Well, to be honest my back up camera has been acting weird since I bought my car and the shift knob, console gear shifter indicator and wiper arm trim looks like crap only after three years in my 2015 5.0. I swapped out the shift knob and gear shifter indicator, but the wiper arm switch need to have the steering wheel removed before you can replace it. I have a nicer wiper arm switch, but I am not ready to pull my steering wheel.

I had to order a used console 2015 3.8 center console trim off eBay and take it apart to replace the gear shift indicator. The rest of the console parts do not even fit my ultimate model with the control knob except for the gear knob and boot.

The reverse camera works overall, but do not switch views like it should. My camera angle is stuck in normal view so it is still useful so I am in no rush to fix it.

So yes, the 2015 has some issues, but are mostly easy to fix with patient and a bit of work.

The camera is a $150 fix out of warranty if you do it yourself and is free for me when I decide to have my extended warranty replace it.

Other than those issues, the 2015 is pretty solid in my opinion.

Nothing to report with my 2015. Due to how quiet the interior is, any little squeak is immediately detectable. Otherwise, nothing other than basic maintenance done to my car.

So far, 33K miles, my experience is similar to glennk for the most part. One battery issue, that was replaced under warranty. There was/is an increase in some road noise when i asked dealer service to make it easier to shut the doors without slamming them...think i should have avoided that (car was like a tomb before that). Stop considering...if the price/condition is right, ensure you have some type of warranty if possible, and go for it. Best

Any problems with adaptive cruise control or lane keep assist? I really want a car with the adaptive cruise with good stop/start technology. Stop and go traffic drives me crazy. I drove a relative’s CX5 with adaptive cruise in a traffic jam and it was just so much more serene and less tiring.

ACC is excellent
LKA assist is meh

The ACC works great. If you come to a complete stop for more than a few seconds you have to either touch the button or pedal. It can really make driving easier in traffic and stoplights. You can adjust the following length too and it adapts and leaves more space at higher speeds as it should.

I’ve had mine for about 8 weeks. I got the base 5.0 because I wanted to get CarPlay. I’m averaging about 20mpg

I do not use the adaptive cruise control, but I do use the lane assist which work well. I used to have the lane assist in active mode but i got tired of it fighting me by nudging my steering wheel. So I just keep in on passive mode which just alerts me and buzz the steering wheel.

However on long trips I may just turn on the active lane assist and adaptive cruise control and let the car do most of the driving to save my arms on the open highway.:)

I was wondering from other threads I looked at if the Ultimate was really worth it. I saw the adaptive suspension only lasted for the 2015 year. Is the base suspension responsive enough?

Didn’t realize you got CarPlay with the base but not the Ultimate. Haven’t had it yet (my newest car is from 2011), but would like to.

Depends on priorities. The Ultimate has a different head unit that cannot be updated to Car Play of Android Auto. If they are important go with the base. OTOH, the Ultimate has the HUD, larger screen, smart trunk, 17 speaker sounds system, and a few other goodies. I enjoyed the Ultimate and don't care about CP, but that is your decision to make.

I love my 2015 with the Ultimate package. I have not tested a non-Ulitmate package 5.0, but I love my car as is. I like the power trunk, media control knob, and the adaptive suspension.

I just use the AHA app which is decent for navigating my music, but Carplay would be a better way to do it to be honest. However, not enough for me to skip the other great options the Ultimate has.

I am scared to try my ACC in stop and go city traffic (it works at low speeds?). Someone please tell me your experiences. On the highway, seems as if it slows down too much at times.

On another subject, I have a rear window which won't roll up or down. 2015 CPO with 28k miles. Do you know if this is even covered?

You can adjust the following distance by holding the button down. I use 2 bars and that is comfy for me. Full on it does slow too soon for me. There is also an adjustment in the Setting menu.

In some stop and go traffic it is fantastic. If you stop more than a few seconds you have to push the button or touch the gas to start moving but it follow well and makes driving very comfortable and less tiring. Features like SCC is why you buy a Genesis so use what you paid for and enjoy it.

Best way to find out is to contact your local dealerships and see what they say.

LOL. I am also reluctant to use ACC in heavy traffic for a fear of rear ending someone if the system do not respond in time to a sudden stop. Atlanta drivers are very unpredictable.:)

My wife was asking me if it can use regular gas. I have read premium only, and I also read that premium is optional. Basically if premium is optional I would imagine it pulls timing and you get a little worse power and mileage. Anyone have a definitive answer? Both our current cars take premium. I think she’s tired of paying the premium for premium. I would probably put premium in it anyway, but if I could at least tell her it could use regular it would probably help my cause 😄

I used my MIL’s CX5 adaptive cruise in heavy traffic without problems. In fact, she complains that the automatic emergency braking steps in too quickly and brakes too hard. Different car and manufacturer, but I would imagine the Genesis is similar.

On hers with any stop you had to tap the gas or hit the resume button to get it going again.
