  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I really like what I am reading about the G70.
I'm considering a 3.3T sport. Seems like a great value for 57K.
I'm in Vancouver area...Surrey. Are G70s readily available...typical lead times? Will Genesis take trades? I'm currently in a 17 Golf R.

They're definitely readily available, especially in Vancouver, as they land right there at the port on Annacis Island. Yes Genesis takes trades. Contact Genesis Richmond or Genesis Vancouver (Burnaby). They can help you out.

I bought my G80 Sport in the Seattle area. Was very surprised what the trade-in allowance was for my '16 Acura RDX. Nearly 70% of what I paid for the RDX back in May of '15.

SUV's are extremely hot, especially good quality used ones.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I traded in my 2013 GMC Sierra and Genesis gave me a really fair price. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the cheque for the difference between the trade-in value and what I put down. It's been three weeks and I'm still making payments on both my G70 and the Sierra. :( I've got a 3.3T Dynamic and it took about 3 weeks from finalizing my order to vehicle delivery. Definitely schedule a test drive, you won't be disappointed!

Very interesting! I've never traded in a vehicle that I still owed on. The dealer should have paid off the remaining balance immediately IMO. I would think legally they could not sell or dispose of your Sierra until it is paid off. Still, until they do, you're probably legally responsible for the debt.

I assume "Dynamic" is a Canadian trademark for your Genesis model. Not sure why you would be getting a cheque unless it's a "cash back" deal.

Ya, this is my first trade where I still owe too. I'm not entirely sure why the loan payout wasnt the first thing they did; my GXM mentioned the accounting department messed up the paperwork. I'm leasing the G70 so didn't want to use the entire trade as down payment - hence the cheque for the remaining balance.

"Dynamic" is the trim level right below the Sport. I still get the 3.3T engine but I forgo the HUD, appearance package, wireless phone charging adaptive suspension, and 360 camera.

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely need to drive one. How should I set that up...just drive to the Burnaby Boundary location or call to make a request?

Give them a call, they'll bring one to you to test drive at your convenience. I think you can even set it up online.

REMIND me not to ever do a trade-in combined with a new lease. Sounds like a can of worms. IMO, you should have received the balance of your equity in the trade-in before you drove out the door with your G70 and once you signed over your trade-in, the dealer should have also paid off the balance you still owed. I'm guessing Genesis thinks the G70 will be a hot seller in the US and they want to build up their inventory before selling it in the States. With the lower price, I expect they're right.

As you probably know, in the US, the 3.3T engine is only offered in the G80 Sport which is also tricked out with almost every option as standard equipment. Wondering if when the G70 does debut here, if the engine will also be offered in other models besides the Sport?

I probably would have waited for the G70 here except I wanted the interior room including the trunk of the G80.

I just went to the Genesis showroom on Boundary (vancouver). First time I've seen a G70 in person. Looks really nice. Now I must drive one...

I asked in a different forum, does anyone know of Genesis offer year end discounts or lease rate reductions? Does anyone remember what happened last year?

I am interested in the G70 but I am in no hurry of getting a new car if it means a better rate for holding out for a few months.

The worst that can happen to you if you wait is that you then can get a '19 G70. Perhaps since the G70 came out so late this year, all the G70's are considered '18 models to start. I bought my last ride (a '16 Acura RDX on May 30th of '15.) I see now that the '19 RDX's are in the showrooms in my area.

The cars they're currently selling are 2019 G70s. At least that's what it says on my Bill of Sale.

Not sure if you made a typo, but usually any new vehicle released in 2018 will be a 2019 model, and the G70 is no exception. There are only rare exceptions to that, mostly when a release gets delayed for some unexpected reason and it is too late to change the model year designation.

It was a typo. I meant '19. However, I'm not buying that any car release in '18 is automatically a '19. Back in the "Good Ole days", next year's models came out in either Sept or Oct. Now for some models, the new ones come out around May or earlier.

My post was in answer to a question as to whether there would be sales this year for end of the year G70's. IF the new G70's are actually called '19 models, those end of the year sales will occur next year (May - Sept '19)???

I am confused by your statements. Back in the "Good Ole days" it was not any different, except on rare occasions when they missed their fall target date and the car didn't get released until early the next year, instead of the previous fall. But that only occurred because of some unexpected delay, and it was too late to change the model year.

These days, for a brand new or heavily revised model, they usually release it when it is ready. They like to plan for mid year release or earlier, in case things slip for some reason until the fall (and to make sure it is released before the end of the year). But even then, I have seen some release dates slip to January without it being the next model year.

On the other hand, I have seen cars released in January of one year, with the model year of the next year, because the car was delivered ahead of schedule and no problems occurred. Building a new car is a complex task, with many years lead time required, and it is sometimes hard to know when it will be ready.

But regardless of when the first one is released, the next model year, assuming there are not any (or only minor) changes, will usually revert back to the fall. So I would not expect the 2020 G70 in Canada until about September (or later) of 2019, but of course I could be wrong.

I agree with this. Aug-Oct seems to be when most new cars are released, but often all new or significantly updated ones come out a bit sooner. I sometimes think they do that just to draw more attention to them so they don't get lost in the mix of all the other "new" cars on the lots.

Another early example for this year was the 2019 Dodge Rams. I noticed them at the dealership at the beginning of May when I took my Jeep in for service. May have even been there sooner.

I think we can take the IF out. Genesis official media center calls it a 2019. No doubt about it.
“FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 11, 2018 – When it comes to market this summer, the 2019 Genesis G70 luxury sport sedan will reset benchmarks and expectations in its class for the holistic integration of performance, body strength, refined luxury and aerodynamic design.”

how was the reception at the boundary store? when i went they had no units available. are you able to take a close look and have someone assist? and can you test drive on site? i always prefer going to a lot so i can view different trims/colours, etc.
