  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am considering purchasing a equus. I currently have a 2011 ls 460, but I don't really think the new one is a significant upgrade in anything other than cost, so I'm looking around.. I was impressed with the equus, but the thing that i am most interested in is the stereo/entertainment system, unfortunately I work 6 days a week, but can anyone tell me if you can add apps, to the system, it looks very basic, but I can't really tell.

the new lexus one has bing/opentable/pandora etc, but i can't tell if the equus has anything, i can keep using my iphone, but i would like to not have to if i don't have to.

really what i would like is to mirror my iphone onto the nav screen, but no car manufacturer seems to want to do that.

of course we would not longer need to buy anything at all in the car for radio etc, since the iphone would do everything.

I'm an old fart so not knowledgeable about everything tech. As far as I know you can't add any apps to the system of my 2013 Equus. You can of course plug your iPhone into the system (not sure what you mean by "mirror" the phone) with the special cable. Others have talked about streaming music via blue tooth but I can't figure out how to do that. I can only play music via the Hyundai cable.

Suggest you drop by the Hyundai dealer and ask a bored salesman to take 5 minutes to show you how to stream audio. Promise him that you will contact him when you are ready to buy a new Equus.

i was actually able to hook up my phone over bluetooth, but one thing that the lexus has going for it, is that I don't need my iphone connected for apps apparently

also there is software and proof of concept, it is not implemented yet, but where you can take your nav screen and make it a mirror of the iphone screen... think like when you take your laptop screen and put it up on a projector for lectures.. and hopefully it would be two way, when you could touch it and send it back to the iphone for control.. hopefully we will see this is a few years, but certainly not this year. that was just a hope that I have, because my iphone nav has improved so significantly in the last three years since I bought my car it's unbelievable so think about how it's going to be in 3 or 4 more years.

so yes I do know that I can stream everything off of the phone, but i guess i'm trying to have some apps in the nav/radio screen, like the new lexus has and apparently equus doen'st have that.

The guy I bought it from was here two weeks ago for an oil change. Probably be back this week because a part had to be ordered for something I don't believe is really a problem (fuel sender) so I'll try to remember to ask him then. I put so few miles on a car that streaming music is not high on my list of priorities. The car is a little over a year old and has fewer than 4,000 miles.

well i finally decided on a ultimate, but apparently inventory is so low in dfw, that I can't get one unless brown, or black/black, which is great in the summer when it's 100 degrees for 100 plus day in a row.

i'm going right now to look at saddle interior.

I don't know of anyone planning to mirror the phone. One of the Chevy's, spark I think, allows you to mirror your mapping program which is a good first step. There is a rumor that the 2015 Genesis and perhaps Equus will have an Android based info system which will sync much better with an Android phone. I agree, having mapping and music keyed to the car is a waste of bytes and effort.

Are you on the north side of DFW?
