  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
So the wife and I are in the market for a sedan. Previously I owned an S500. But once the mercedes was out of warranty, it became an expensive (but great!) car to own.

I usually buy late model, low mileage used cars.

I'm deciding between the lexus es350, Jaguar xf, and mercedes e350.

I liked the lexus and Jag, but I loved the genesis. The ride reminded me of my old mercedes, it was so quiet and refined inside. I only learned of the genesis on a long trip with my wife wherein we were on the lookout for different cars. My wife said "look at that, that's a pretty car." At first we thought it was a Bentley, than maybe a Chyrsler???I googled it and the rest is history.

The car I'm looking at is a 2012 black exterior, saddle/brown interior, with 26,000 miles.

Realistically what is the lowest I can reasonably be expected to purchase it for? I've found some prior threads of ballpark prices.

With respect to brakes and oil, it looks like brakes should have been taken care of and oil consumption only implicated the 5.0 model?

I purchased a new 2011 4.6 Genesis with tech. After 127,000 miles its still a near perfect car. It still has the original brake pads. The smart cruise works perfectly. The sound system is second to none in my opinion. I love Mercedes too, but the Genesis is a more reliable car.

Yes, the excess oil consumption problem was first reported on 2012 5.0 GDI engines, and should not affect the 4.6..

A few months ago, I was deciding between a used ES350, BMW 535, and a Mercedes C300. Ended up with a new 2013 Genesis 3.8 w/Tech for about the same money as those used vehicles.

I did see a used 2011 4.6 for around $22k at the same time I bought mine.
