  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Turns out that Contential 30 day return has a caveat. You can only change for another Contential tire including General. So my options are to try the Contential DW that has no warranty or the new General GMax A that has a 40,000 mile warranty.

Anyone using the DW or new General GMax? Look forward to comments.

Thanks

I'm running the DW's and am lovin' them so far. The traction is crazy, but I did go with a 245 width instead of the OEM 235. Maybe the combo of the tiny bit wider tire and a better tire has given this car a different feel compared to previous tires and they are quite and ride well. At 1st I thought mine were pulling to the right, but after putting many more miles on the tires I guess it must have been the crown of the road because they track straight. WALLYMN on forum recommended these tires to me and I'm very pleased. They are rated #2 out of 25 tires in their catagory.

I have the DW's on my 03 Vette. I love them. Quiet, smooth, and no pulling.

They would be worthless in snow, however,

I am on my second set of 255/45/18 DW, I really like them, Gives me an extra 5-10 MPH on on/off ramps. (really the only place I push the limits), first set saw 40,000 miles, still had a little tread left but they were offering a sale so it made sense to buy about 5k earlier than I needed to.

My tire dealer is trying to tell me that because the DW is a high performance tire it will NOT be as quiet as the DWS or General. This is my wife's car and her number one priority is to be quiet. Mine is to get the damn car to not pull to the right.

I would believe your tire dealer needs to state why this summer tire DW would be noisier than the all season? Have you seen the tread pattern on the DW? I understand how quiet it can be just by the tread pattern. Here is from TireRack

Ride comfort for Conti - 9.0

Noise comfort for Conti - 8.8

Ride comfort for General GMax - 8.6

Noise comfort for General GMax - 8.2

Interesting. Thanks for the information. I am also assuming that the DW sidewalls might be softer than the OEM Dunlops and give a softer ride than th Dunlops.

The link below is a direct comparison between the two tires you've mentioned. Note that the DW's are a summer tire and the General's are an all season tire.

Currently Continental has a offer to give a free Nook with any purchase of their tires over $400 through May 6.

they are louder than the dunlops.... I don't mind the trade off, but if your PRIMARY concern is noise, I would pass on the DW

The DWS is Ultra High Performance. They replaced all 4 already?

Update: replaced the DWS with the General GMax A-03 today. Dealer is sending the DWS back. The Generals tracked true and were as quiet as the DWS. I am surprised that I was the only Genesis owner who had severe pull right issues. I bought the DWS based on the comments here and the reviews at Tire Rack.

I have DWS on my Mercedes and they track true. Bad set. Happens.

Part of the issue could be that on the Genesis there is no camber adjustment where as on the Mercedes, there is some camber range of adjustment. My SL 500 camber could be adjusted a small amount. If it were bad tires, I find it hard to believe that I would have had four bad tires. We had switched the DWS from front to back and it still pulled. Yesterday, we replaced the front two with the Generals and track improved but still pulled slightly. We then replaced the rear two with the other two Generals and it tracked true.

Yes it is hard to believe that several tires in a set can be bad. But if they were close in the serial numbers then the machines in the factory could be out of spec and 100 more tires could all have same problem. I worked for Goodyear Tire for several years and saw pulling probelms often which related back to a problem in manufacutring.
