  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday, I took my 2012 R-spec to the dealer because my right front tire developed a bubble.
I had all 4 tires replaced by Hyundai and Continental at 10,000miles cause of extreme pulling, back in June. A common problem on the R-Spec that they could not resolve for the Procontac tires..
I was expecting this new problem with the bubble to be covered under road hazard, 1 yr warranty.
The dealer called Continental for authorization and were told that since I didn't "pay" for these 4 new replaced tires, the road hazard did not apply?
Cost me $300 for the replacement!!!
Is this true?
I would expect them being new, they would still have a warranty, no matter who paid for it?

Yeah I would have expected that too actually. They were pretty good honoring a more conventional warranty situation for me a couple of years back.

when was the car purchased ? (are you within you 1st year)
If so the manufacturer should resolve the replacement problem.

2nd this is th first i've heard of a tire manufacturer stating things
like this. It would be my plan of attack to say original tires would
still be under a warranty regardless of them being replaced.
the 2nd set of tires should at least be covered under the original
warranty.

now all that being said... bubbles are usually caused by road hazzards
such as hitting a pothole and breaking a belt in the tire. this is where
the tire protection warranty is a good idea (if you live in a place
that has horrible roads). i can justify the warranty with my past car
however for the hyundai i can't. $450 for 5 years and i put <5K yearly
and the tires can take the abuse (compared to run flats). just not
worth it for me.

service manager should have pursued this on your behalf. my only
concern is that it's a bubble. sometimes best just to pay the price
and walk away.

and lol if a bubble on a $300 tire is all you have to worry about
consider yourself in good shape !

ppp

All 4 tires were replaced in June, the care had 10,000miles on it.
I had continual problems with pulling and every effore they made to align, rotate or balance could not resolve the pulling issues.

I purchased the car in Feb 2012, it was an executive dealer demo with 4800miles on it.
