  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Continental Tires

Also the general consensus in threads on this board was the ExtremeContact DWS 06's were a better tire regardless of the fairly small cost difference between the two.

And my original point was the price difference was ironically higher for the Hyundai supplied Michelin's (and V8 Conti's) - meaning those cheaper Conti DWS06's should have been had with a refund.

Oh, I see. Well either way it's a pretty negligible difference on retail of each and also depends on when you get them. As I stated before I did actually get a $70 rebate gift card when I got the DWS 06's.

I mean right now on Tire Rack, the MXM4's are actually $25/tire less expensive than the DWS 06's.

Thanks for the reply... my car came with Michelin MXM4s. Had a lot of vibration, and they were replaced. I still have a bit.

I would have preferred the Conti's, but I did not get a choice.

I sent the following to Continental:
I am replacing a set of Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 tires.
245/40 R19 on the front
275/35 R19 on the rear

I am considering either your:
ProContact TX or
ExtremeContact DWS 06

Please provide the following on both of these tires in the sizes listed above:
Total tire width and
Tread width

Thank you.

I received the following from them in response:
Dear Bill,

[Web Inquiry: 160605-000000]

The 245/40ZR19 has a section width of 9.8" on a 8.5" rim and tread width of 9.3" for both tires
The 275/35ZR19 has a section width of 10.9" on a 9.5" rim and tread width of 10.4" for both tires

Best Regards,

While I don't have the exact measurements of the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 (the measurements that other members of the board have posted are for a similar tire and not the exact measurements on the OEM tire) I'm encouraged to learn that the two Continental tires don't appear to be the least bit narrow. I've measured my tires and they are remarkably similar to the Continentals.
