  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don't have a G80 so my info system is somewhat different from yours (unless the new model of the G80 has the newer version like the G90 and the GV60) but in mine, the wheel does different things depending upon what I am doing. For example, when I start my car up the info screen defaults to the various panes (including apple carplay) and the radio plays the SXM channel that I was last listening to. If I turn the dial it moves laterally between the panes, But if I depress the radio button which calls up the radio system on the info screen, the dial them moves laterally between stations in numerical order (right moves one station higher, left one station lower, etc.). But, even on radio, if I change one setting the wheel does different things. And while the wheel on the console moves one station at a time, the mouse on the steering wheel moves on favorite at a time.

I describe this so you can make sure that it is truly not responding rather than responding in a manner different than you selected. I would suggest pulling over to the side of a road and slowly playing around with it and see if it truly not responding (in which case you need service) or if you need to make any default adjustments so it performs in a manner that works for you.

Sorry for my suggestion. That definitely seems broken. If I am seeing it correctly, not only does it sometimes not advance the panel but when you select a panel and depress the wheel it merely moves between panels on the screen.

When you use the touchscreen, does it work properly? If yes...that would at least pinpoint the problem with the wheel and its system. If, on the other hand, you also have a problem with the touchscreen, then you likely either have a bad software build or a defect somewhere in the info headunit.

I hope you have a good dealership and they are good with loaners. If it were me, and the touchscreen worked, it would be an annoyance but I could wait a couple of weeks for an appointment to get a loaner; if, on the other hand, it affects the touchscreen as well, then I would want to be able to take it into the dealer and get an immediate loaner. At that point the car is no longer entirely functional. In my case, I am confident that either way I could take it in immediately and get a loaner (I say take it in because while my dealer has offered valet service, it is only a very fast 4 miles away so I prefer to actually go there, see what is happening, and make sure that I am okay with the loaner.

As an aside, give me an equivalent loaner and I will put up with a lot. Make that process painful, or not available, and I am counting the days in the shop for a possible lemon law claim and plan on leaving the dealership and, depending upon the reason and alternatives, the brand as well.

yeah touchscreen works perfectly , but as you saw the wheel has its own mind , definitely will take to the dealer next saturday and hope for the best , the salesman became a friend and said he'll call the maintenance center manager to give my car priority .
will update after i go there.

Well .. if anyone cares , i took the car to the dealership , they couldn't reproduce the issue , so they just cleaned the “ connections “ , that might’ve been the issue , didn't happen after that .

What do you mean "cleaned the connections"? I'm having the same issue so I'd live to understand the resolution
