  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, my Genesis has it's 5 year service next month. I see on the service schedule that for the first 5 year services, the coolant is checked but not changed. The first coolant change is year 6 service. But then it shows a coolant change for every year after that. So no change from years 1 to 5, and then a change every year from year 6 onwards.
I going to subscribe to an Hyundai service package for 5 years, covering me for years 6 to 10. There are three levels of servicing, and the coolant change is only in the third, most expensive, service level. So I'm working out a service levels plan, but is it really necessary to change the coolant every year?

That's ridicules, there is no way they expect you to change it every year, im sure as hell not going to.

Per the manual, for both "normal" and "severe" driving conditions, the first recommended coolant replacement is at 120K mi, and then again at 150K mi.

Replacing the coolant every 30K mi seems excessive. I would do it at 100K mi increments.

Many thanks. I should have said this car is in the UK, and in our edition of the owner's manual, there is no maintenance section, so it has been interesting to see what the US edition had to say.
