Coronavirus effects shut world's biggest car factory

SEOUL: The most productive car factory in the world fell quiet on Friday as South Korea's Hyundai suspended operations at its giant Ulsan complex, hamstrung by a lack of parts with the coronavirus outbreak crippling China's industrial output.

Toyota has shut down some production, Kia will, and other auto plants many be soon too. It will have quite an impact in the next few months.

So much for the “just in time inventory” concept.

Kia doesn't seem to be affected (at least not yet).

Hyundai is scrambling to get more wiring harnesses from its suppliers in Korea and South Asia.

But the shut down has affected G70, G80, G90 and presumably GV80 production.

Update - seems like Kia (in Korea) will also temporarily shut down its plants.

Another update - Hyundai restarted production last Tues. on a limited basis w/ priority given to certain models (including the GV80).
