Buying a Genesis in Canada often looks like a better deal than in the U.S. comparing list prices after factoring in the exchange rate between the two currencies. It's hard to be exact since the trims are not identical, but it appears to me that's the case (at least before considering sales taxes). Parts and supplies may be another story, at least from my recent experience. I decided to have the rear differential fluid changed in my GV80 3.5T Prestige with LSD which is approaching 5 years and has about 80,000 km on it. I was charged $111.65 CDN per quart for the fluid (part number 00232-19075) which works out to about $80.90 US per quart. Some online searches reveal that part number available from US sources as low as $21.49 per quart up to about $35.00 or so. By the way, this same part number is used for the Hyundai and Kia packaged diff fluid which sells for a little less in Canada, as low as $62.75 for the Kia branded bottle. Other than outright greed, I can't figure out why a consumable such as differential oil would be marked up that much in Canada. Having said that, I'm not regretting where I live. Bring back Jimmy Kimmel.
