For the year, I spent $780 for gas. Not sure of the odometer readings but in the range of 8500 miles.
My one credit card gives me an annual breakdown by category so it was easy to come up with the numbers. I only buy gas two ways. With my Shell credit card that gives me 5 cents a gallon off, or my Master Card that gives me a 3% cash back.
There is also a CPI inflation calculator I use at times. You plug in the dates and cost. Back in the early 1970s, gas was about 35 cents a gallon. Based on the CPI, that would equal $2.87 today. Reality in my area is about $3.40.
Lowest price I ever paid for gas was in 1963 and it was 19.9 cents. That would be $2.04 today.
