In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I see cowl covers being replaced as a TSB, but can find NO info on any TSB. Does anyone have any info on what the heck is being replaced and whether all 2015's are affected?

The only TSB I have seen actual info on is the tail light. The only program I have seen is the tires.

Thanks for sharing what you may know.

The problem is that no one answered in that thread either.

Took my 2015 in for a regular Oil Service at 23k km (14k miles) and they also replaced the cowl cover. No details, but the work order stated replacement due to "insufficient material strength". They also installed a "Dummy Housing" on the passenger seat, which was to prevent water entering a connector () and the Tire replacement. Outstanding is an"AVN Update" whatever that is, as the dealer was waiting for parts.

Thanks for the "insufficient material strength" info. There is NO info I can find. Just curious. BTW, the other threads (see link above) really don't have any useful info. All anyone found was Genesis Coupe basic info. I already posted to that.

Aware of this service, but thanks for pointing it out. No, I don't want to pay $20 to find out why the cowl is being replaced or what exactly the cowl is. Others have tried to find info and have found nothing on the sedan. It appears the cowl is some part of the lower section of the dash, based on the info already found by others who accidentally posted info on the coupe.

I thought people might be interested to know what was being replaced and why, based on shared experiences, but that does not seem to be the case.

AVN Update sounds like a map update (Audio Video Navigation).

From my understanding the 'cowl' is the plastic trim at the base of the windshield that extends under the back of the hood. It doesn't appear to be structural, so I'm not sure why strength is a factor, but maybe they have been experiencing cracks or something.

Thanks for the update. I was just curious what the heck was being replaced and why. What you are saying makes sense; that piece of plastic is a bit flimsy compared to other cars I have owned.

+1 DEFINITELY interested! Do the TSBs for the cowl cover and lower dash cover replacements specifically cover the 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Ultimate?

I am just to cheap to pay the $20 to find out. I would most definitely like to know what it is they are replacing. If it is the cowl between the windshield and hood, it kind of makes sense. When I wash my car I always lift the hood and clean under the hood. I find a lot of water in and around the main fuse box and other components. Maybe they have changed the design to keep this excess water out from entering under the hood area. Hope someone finds out soon. I might just have to break out the credit card :D

The other part that I am thinking it could be is something to be with the duct work for the air flow inside the car. When you turn on your foot well setting to blow cold/hot air down by your feet, it is minimal at best. There is definitely something wrong with it. I live in Florida so for me it is not a big deal. For those in the colder climates, not so much.

That was my thinking too, but if so I'm not sure why they need to wait for parts for a software update, unless they are replacing the memory card. I hope it is a map update as the version I have installed is older than the updated software I had in my 2012. On a recent trip to Lancaster PA it got us lost twice and would not recognize a street name that has been there for probably 50 years or more.

According to what the manual says and my sales guy, an AVN update is done through a new SD card, so they probably don't have them yet from Hyundai Canada.

Here's the instruction manual from Mapnsoft for the update. Definitely a new SD Card required. Click on the manual on this page . It's a PDF file.

Dropped my car off for routine service today as well as the headliner creak/rattle at front of sunroof and the rear panel sunroof gasket peeling issue. They are also doing 3 recall/TSB items (not the tires as I like my Hankooks - dealer did confirm I have 3 years to swap them out, though): the tail light pad fix, the cowel cover replacement and the dummy panel.

The Mfr. Campaign notices showed up in my appointment confirmation - but did not define which was which. Here are the 3 #'s: 100028814268, 100031238181 and 100031245187.

Also the dealer said the cowel cover is being relaced with a new design part as they had some instances of the cover coming loose and the wipers getting jammed. They also said the dummy panel is to seal an opening on the passenger side firewall. Finally he said the tire recall was because people were complaining about road noise. Like me, he did not understand it as he had personally driven many of the 2015's and found the Hankooks incredibly quiet as well! He seemed as puzzled as I was as to why they are replacing them?

Why we cannot see this information on www.myhyundai.com is beyond me. All I see when I log into my account is the TSB for the pad of the rear tail lights. If we own the car, we should not have to pay to see what problems are being fixed for our cars. I wouldn't pay the $20 bucks either!!

Here's a copy of the first 2 pages of 6 in TSB #15-01-016-1, COWL COVER LOWER PIECE REPLACEMENT (SERVICE CAMPAIGN TX1). The rest of the TSB include dealer installation instructions for replacing the cowl cover. The TSB just states "Certain 2015 Genesis (DH)" vehicles are included. The entire TSB is not attached because of the file size limitations imposed here--195.3KB for pdf.

I heard that the wipers were lifting the original cowl when icing conditions occurred. The stronger cowl will stall the wipers and not lift in severe conditions.
