  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The 6 inch wide roof panel between the windshield and the sunroof on my 2015 5.0 sedan has cracked in a ring about 1 inch in from the edge 3/4 of the way around the panel. There was no accident or stone hit that I'm aware of. Anyone else have this issue? I'm taking it in to the dealer tomorrow.

I have heard of one other person with this issue; it was early on when the 2015s first came out. Not a chance in Hades I'd be able to find the post though.

Any extreme changes in temperature? I've heard of this happening in office buildings. This is the first I've heard of it in a car.

Went to dealer today. They are replacing the glass panel under warranty. Couldn't find any indication of a stone hit. Waiting on replacement panel from Hyundai California. Service advisor, Andrew, with Rick Case Hyundai was excellent, very profesional(as always).

I did not realize that panel is glass. i thought it was black painted metal.

It just cracked? I wonder if that's the part of the sun roof everyone is complaining they hear "creaking"...

No - the creaking comes from the rear of the pano panel - as the rear mounts in the track have a lot of slop in them. I posted a couple times with detailed pictures in the past 9 months in the sunroof thread.

Program1, yes, that is the cracked glass panel. I'm supposed to get the car Tuesday, the glass installer is scheduled for Monday pm.

My sunroof creaks too (I think). But it only happens when I am doing something that causes the vehicle to flex (train tracks, entering a gas station at an angle, etc). So, I'm not sure my creak is as bad as other folks describe.

I Know I'm years late, but my 2015 Genesis also had a crack and then boom, flew up and came off. I registered a complaint with Transportation, let Hyundai know and nothing.

If I remember correctly - Hyundai recently extended the warranty on the pano roof glass to 10yr/120,000mi to "first time and subsequent owners". Hopefully, that would be included...

I had the same thing happen. It just exploded while I was driving. Nothing hit it. I took it to my insurance since I have glass breakage coverage. It was State Farm. They ordered the part for me and had it sent to one of my local glass repair shops. It was there in two days. All I had to pay was my $50
deductible.
