If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anybody had to have their windshield replaced on their ultimate? I'm concerned about the HUD and sensors. Do I need to go to the dealer for this?

I had to have mine replaced due to rock damage. My insurance had the local glass repair company perform the replacement. No problems at all. The tech did not have to disconnect the power to the unit. It took a while to order in the glass, there were none in town. Everything had worked well since, it has been about 5 months.

My experience was exactly like that of Miglgunn except that the glass was available locally. No problems since. Thank heavens for insurance. The glass priced out at $2236! And that was in June olf 2015.

The dealer replaced mine under warranty due to distorted view. They did this right after I purchased it so I don't know if an issue with my rain sensing wipers (do not continuously wipe during heavy downpours) is due to the replaced glass or was there to begin with.

Usually the dealer will outsource to an auto-glass company for installation, since they are experts at that, and is all they do. But the auto-glass company will probably have to buy the glass from Hyundai, since I don't believe there are any after-market windshields with the necessary sensors, etc.

So it probably does not matter whether you take it to your dealer, or directly to an auto-glass company. If it is not covered by insurance, get bids on it, since they will all likely be using the same OEM glass. You should be able to get confirmation from an auto-glass company about where they will get the glass.

I have an ultimate with a replaced shield. Whoever you go to, make sure they source original OEM glass from Hyundai... I also had to take my car in for service due to calibration of sensors after the replacement... Per recommendation.

Mine was replaced, no issues. Specify OEM glass, but I think that is all that is available. After glass replacement, the sensors have to be re-calibrated. Most glass shops aren't able to do that. I also had clear tint that needed replacing. I think mine was $2650 with everything.

Mine was replaced by SafeLite. Great work, but I just discovered the rain sensor only works occasionally. Is this one of the items that can be recalibrated?

mine being replaced because I hit a stork on the highway.
the glass for cars with HUD is not the same from the cars without HUD.
When replacing the windshield for sure must be replaced the light+rain sensor.

Update: Safelite replaced the windshield. They used OEM.

I called the dealer service and they said there is nothing they know of that would need to be calibrated. The sensors are under the windshield, so unless they were damaged then there shouldn't be a problem. I'll keep my eye on the auto wipers.

My '15 Ultimate just got a crack today, only 9000 miles on it. We had some highway resurfacing in the area and I heard a rock hit 3 days ago on the way to my office. Didn't see anything after I got there and inspected. Today driving back from lunch with the A/C on (warm outside), went over a small bump and had over a 12" crack instantly develop from the top edge down to my line of sight (maybe 1/3 from the top). When I got out to re-inspect it, that rock must have hit right at the edge of the windshield near the roofline.

Anyway, I went to GEICO to start a claim ($1,000 deductible) and they showed $529.95 replacement cost estimate.... so no coverage. That sounded low (or non-OEM) so I called Safelite Autoglass to discuss. They confirmed that was the non-OEM, and that OEM glass would be $1899 installed. However, they said the non-OEM glass did have all of the same features for my ultimate (acoustic layer, HUD tint, rain sensors, condensation sensors, etc) so I'm going with that and will report back after they install it in 3 days (I called GEICO and they said they wouldn't allow a claim on OEM glass anyway, since non-OEM was available and contains the same features... I'd be paying out of pocket for either). Safelite did say that it includes sensor calibration (and this is something that they do recently at Safelite) but that I would have to goto the dealership for recalibration of the camera system (for the lane departure, collision detection, etc).

I had a cracked windshield when I purchased my car, they replaced it with none oem glass, I have no issues with HUD or rain wipers etc...

Just reporting back that Safelite replaced my cracked OEM windshield for me with non-OEM glass, calibrated everything and it looks as good as new now. Nothing needed to be calibrated by the dealership, the lane departure, cruise control with automatic braking, HUD, etc all work just fine and road noise is the same as before (non-OEM has the acoustic layer too).

Had the windshield replaced on my 2015 Ultimate AWD over the weekend with SafeLight. They did the calibration and everything seems to work fine except for the fact that the Lane Keep Assist seems to be working much more now than before. I can feel the steering wheel constantly adjusting; where as before it was only occasionally. Also, the Lane Departure Warning is also coming on much more than before.

I read somewhere that there is a way to self calibrate the system by driving on a stretch of road for an extended period with the system on. Anyone have any info or suggestions? Or should I just go to my dealer and have them re calibrate the system again?

I'd trust the dealer more than the Safelight guy that maybe does one a year.

I can see two reasons it changed:
He calibrated it too wide an angle
You're getting older and can't see the lines as well.

Thanks for the info. And my eyes are just fine. I'm not that old. LOL!

I was replacing mine via insurance as well.
Got non-OEM glass at first and did not like the look - a bit tilted image and not as uniform as you move the head around.

Took about 2 weeks and emails back and forth between insurance and glass shop to make them redo it. I was asking for OEM glass which was "out of policy". Eventually got it replaced. No idea if got OEM or not - it looks and functions well.

Drove for the first time since bringing the car home after the windshield replacement (I don't drive during the week) and everything worked fine. The LKA system only kicked in when I drifted out of the lane (tested to check). Guess the system wanted some rest.
