  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone, first post here. I have a new-to-me 2011 Genesis sedan with a 4.6. I'm trying to replace the crank sensor, but on the replacement sensors I've bought from Rock Auto and Advance, the wiring harness on the sensor is too short to reach the engine harness and the bracket the wiring clips to. The leads from these sensors are about 1.5 inches shorter than what I pulled off the car. Crank sensor I got from Rock Auto is OE Hyundai. What's going on? Am I missing something?

You likely got the wrong sensor. The 2011 model is a weird year. Hyundai used two different sensors.
You probably need the version for the 2012-2014 models. It has a longer wiring harness.
Check the physical part number on your original sensor. Match it exactly to the new one. The auto parts store catalogs often get this wrong.

The part numbers on my original crank sensor and the replacement are the same. Hyundai lists one crank sensor for all 4.6, 5.0 and Equus models.

Yes, that's correct. Hyundai uses the same crank sensor for those engines.

All years of the 4.6 use the same crank sensor. So it's not a matter of getting the wrong year. And the part numbers match anyway.

Has anyone encountered this before??

Even with matching part numbers, aftermarket sensors are often built wrong. The wiring harness is just a little too short.
You need the genuine Hyundai part from the dealer. The aftermarket ones, even from big brands, are frequently incorrect and will cause this exact issue.
