If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2010 4.6 is coming up on 300xxxkms.
The engine runs strong but many of the bells and whistles have stopped working.
Cruise control is what I miss the most. My model can equipped with adaptive CC. However, I get a red light on the dash every time I try to turn on cruise control.
I think the Cruise Control Module is likely faulty although my car has not been in a collision. A new module costs way more than I would care to spend. Does anyone have advice for this problem.
Thanks in advance!

What does the red light say? A fuse possibly?

It looks like a cruise control light, except that it is red. It also shows up on my dash after my car has been running for 25 minutes even if I didn’t attempt cruise control.

I checked the 10A fuse for cruise control and it is fine.

Yeah been there done that with the red dash SCC light. Both times for me it was the HECU ($3k or so these days at the dealer). But it might also be a wheel speed sensor or something else less wallet busting. Get the car to a Hyundai mechanic (who has a scan tool that can interrogate Hyundai smart cruise module). It's a big system with everything from wheel speed sensors to the radar module to the ABS system and everything in between. Any one component can trip it off and throw the red light. Only way to avoid wasting money firing the parts cannon is to get it scanned by a tool that can talk to the SCC module and get the fault code(s).

Thanks for this. I believe you are correct. I will be looking into finding a shop that can do a thorough scan.

I had this problem with Cruise Control on my 2013 Sedan, but had a lot of lights (ABS, EPB, AutoHold). All were caused by the wheel sensor. That one thing cascaded to lots of lights on the dash and fixing it cleared all that up including the Cruise Control for me.

Were you ever able to determine what the issue was? I had a 2011 4.6 several years ago and the module was bad. I can’t remember if there were any lights in the dash, the cruise just quit working. I call it a module but it was a square shaped unit located behind the front bumper cover on the passenger side. Dealer quoted $3500 for the part, I found a used one from a wrecking yard in CA. for $650.00 with a one year warranty. Installed it myself in the driveway and it was still working more than 2 yrs later. The unit was actually made in Germany lol. If you replace it yourself, it’s not hard and you don’t have to remove the bumper cover at all. Hope this helps!! These are awesome cars and were ahead of their time imho.

Thanks for your reply. No, I haven’t determined the exact issue yet but I assume it is the same part you mentioned.
They’re very expensive and I haven’t been able to find my model in a scrap yard near me.
I’m glad the used part you found came with a warranty. I would have a hard time dishing out that kind of money for a part that old.
Now I’m just trying to get every dollar out of this car that I can. If / when it quits I plan to upgrade to a used A4 / A6 Quattro as the winter was pretty tough with RWD this year.
