Current distribution of 4.6 models across the US

Using the Cars.com web site I got the state-by-state distribution of the 4.6 2011 model across the US.

Looks pretty weird to me.

I assume that is current inventory, not taking into account the number of units sold, so I am not sure what it means.

But it does appear (based on other posts) that not as many Genesis models are sold in the northeast as some other areas, probably because of a combination of snow (RWD cars don't sell as well where it snows heavily) and snob appeal (Hyundai is not yet a proper car for the elitists classes). People in the northeast are very slow to adopt new ideas.

The one state that looks a little weird is Montona.

Holy heavens... I have been trying to verify these numbers for the last hour using Autotrader, etc. They seem spot on. What that means is last week I purchased the one and only 2011 that the entire state of Minnesota has received.

That is crazy? Anyone living in Minnesota looking for a 2011? Sorry about that. LOL.

Well I can tell you that they don't show any in North Carolina, but I traded my 2009 3.8 for a 2011 4.6 on Saturday in Charlotte

I believe this is wrong.. The MN state lists 1 4.6 but there are at least 3 sitting on dealer lots....

remember cars.com doesn't track inventory, dealers have to load information into the system...

It appears I didn't make myself clear on a couple of points when generating the pic.

The number and shading refers to the number of 2011 4.6 models reported on Cars.com on 8/29/10 at about 9pm. The pic is only as accurate as the data in Cars.com. It sounds like not every dealer is up to date with their data.

I found one error on the pic though. The number for Vermont is 0, not 9. Typing error. My bad.

I bought mine there. But if you notice 2 of 3 are 3.8s not 4.6

I went to the one in Brooklyn Park. It was there 1st 2011.

Just realized my Genesis is coming up on 2 years old... time flies...
