  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I noticed after exiting the freeway that my right front sensor was going off when I came to a stop even though I was first at the light. On closer inspection I saw there was a tiny dent from a rock that flew up. FB_IMG_1556380620366.webp

Got a quote from the dealer and it was a little high to say the least but they were nice enough to get me a part # since it's color matched from Hyundai.

The SRM that's available on this site didn't list programming steps so I decided to replace it myself. That corner sensor can actually be located by turning the wheel in the opposite direction, removing the 3 well liner clips and a screw. Prying open the liner you can reach in and disconnect the sensor that's secured but a couple of tabs on a bracket. Swapped it out in just a few minutes and no calibrating or programming was needed. Total cost was $80 vs the $512 at the dealer.

I don't mind paying for actual labor involved or shop supplies used, but this was OUTRAGEOUS in this case. It takes longer to write up a service ticket and get the car pulled into the bay than it takes to replace it.

Good to know, that could happen to any of us. Pretty hefty labor cost there.

Shop supplies is always a thorn in my side. Some shops just have a percentage built into the invoice no matter what is used. I had a bill for diagnostics and it has the "shop supplies" line so I asked for an itemized list. They took it off. It is just another profit for them that is not questioned enough. They don't bill separate for heat, office supplies, toilet paper as that is built into overheard as it should be.

Yeah, unfortunately nothing as far as supplies or disposal is involved here so it's obviously a percentage.

What I find strange is Hyundai allows for bumper R/I, which is completely unnecessary unless you have awkwardly large hands/short arms. Center left and right sensors I could understand but not these.

okcguy,
How did you get the parts cost down to $80 from $156.68?

had same thing happen and dealer took care of the labor as goodwill and i paid for the part. labor is high because they have to drop the bumper.

Depending on the location, it may need to come off.

I got mine from ebay, like dareckibmw mentioned. As long as it's new, you should be good.

They want to charge me 1400.00 to change one rear sensor on my 2018 genesis g80 sport ridiculous

Taking off the bumper cover isn't really difficult if you have a helper... I still need to replace one of my front sensors. My limiting factor right now is the brutal South Texas heat & humidity!

You can reach the two center sensors by taking off the skid plate and snaking your arm around the radiator shield. Does require having very thin hands.
On an unrelated note, I got sold a different sensor as a 95721-B1000, something I did not notice until delivery. I was hoping it would work, but no, it just makes the whole sensor system turn into an orange triangle. Sigh.
