  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recently, my wife closed the driver's side rear door onto the hard edge of a drawing board she had placed across the floor and punched a nasty hole into the speaker grille. I've pulled the lower part of the door casing away to find that the grille is quite a complex molding riveted into the casing assembly.

We took the car to the dealer hoping that they could obtain the part and repair the door casing. No such luck - apparently Hyundai do not supply that part. I would have to buy a complete replacement door casing costing well over $1,100.

I'm currently in discussion with our insurance company on this matter. However, I was wondering if any of you guys have any thoughts on how to obtain a replacement grille molding so that I may get the otherwise perfectly good door casing repaired. I don't imagine that there are many wreckers yards carrying this item.

I would try a "junk" yard. Since they are connected via computer they can literally check all over the country.

Just check to see if it year specific or generic for any year.

I agree, a salvage yard is your best bet. It may still cost 500.00+ for the door panel since most yards will not sell part of the interior door. You can also do an online search for the door panel.

You can always consider getting a new wife !
