Dark chrome trim

Anyone else having a problem with their dark chrome trim on the G70 sport? Mine on the back window area has completely discolored and looks scratched. I checked to see if there was a film on there, but there is nothing.

Back to the dealer I guess!

Agreed, that doesn't look right. Others have had dark chrome issues and I think the dealer was able to replace them under warranty. Hopefully you'll get the same treatment! Let us know what happens.

The dark chrome trim is finicky for sure and seems to spot easily for some reason. I use some detail spray/finish spray that I use after a car wash, spray on a micro cloth and clean off the dark trim pieces around windows, rear bumper area and front grill. What looked liked spots cleaned off just fine. Would not use anything abrasive or with polish compounds in it for fear of scratching.

same issue they ordered me all new trim ,now dealing with the rusty bolts behind folded down rear seats

Same issue and same molding i had. They replaced it but they didn’t get installed correct and waiting on another but it’s on Backorder.

You’re lucky. I’m hoping the only one is the left rear.
I just wish they would have installed PFP on the grille surround got chips on it already.

o wow. I was seeking any possible drawbacks of getting the Sport trim. Hopefully this isn't a widespread production issue!

As I mentioned in another thread... the grill is fine, however, some of the trim molding around the windows, some good, some bad. Dealer is waiting for some polish from Genesis to see if that works. Expecting like others to eventually receive all new trim.

Hey guys. No pictures but took my G70 in for 6K Service and showed the Service Manage the same issue with the "Smoked Chrome" (I'm told this is the official name?) around both windows. It's random but when it happens it happens. Care had 1100 miles on it when I bought it as the Dealership owner drove as a demo. I pointed the issue out to the Service Manager and I said this should not happen on a $50K car with 6K miles. He agreed and they are going to replace all side window moldings. Issue has not occurred anywhere else. Will keep you posted on results. Hope this dealership installs correctly....

Slight surface corrosion on bolt heads? I’ve not changed my oil just yet, but assume I will see all sorts of minor surface corrosion on the undercarriage, exhaust and the likes. Bolt heads in the interior that are out of site, not sure that is worth worrying over unless it turns severe to the point of getting ready to fail?

You can fix it. Remove the rusted/corroded hardware, sand and/or wirebrush it to be cleaner, then apply some rust dissolver jelly (or even CLR) on it, once cleaned and neutralized spray it with several coats of some high quality spray paint, let it cure, then reinstall. You can get all the stuff at Home Depot or equivalent hardware store.


OR - if you have a cool dealer maybe they can hook you up with replacements.
