  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a intermittent dashboard plastic tick/creak sound which appears to be coming from the central A/C vents on the dash. I would not really consider this a rattle, but it can become quite irritating if you fixate on it. If you push on the A/C vent front, I can reproduce the sound. It seems worse when I first start out when it is hot outside and turn the A/C on. As the car cools off, the tick sound is less often. May be related to expansion/contraction, but it would seem that felt around the inside vent ducts would take care of this issue. It is definitely not the speaker in the center. When I press on the grill, I hear nothing. Can anyone confirm this noise, and if so were you able to resolve this issue. Unfortunately when I initially test drove the car, it was cold outside and I didn't hear the noise and believe me--I listen very carefully before I purchase a car.

My girlfriends Kia Sportage does that. I believe it is the plastics contracting when the A/C comes on. Same happens in the winter when the heat turns on and the plastics expand.

My music is usually up to loud for me to notice stuff like that, but I'll keep my ear on it and see if it happens to me.

Funny you should say that.
The EXACT same thing has been driving me crazy for the past few weeks.
It's a intermittent tick sound but since the cabin is so damn quiet, it starts to get really annoying after a few minutes.
Mine is coming from somewhere around the speedo cluster area near the vents.

I'm in the process of making my Genesis rattle/vibration/noise free, but this one appears to be a more difficult task than soundproofing the doors.

Please let us know if you get a solution to this noise.

I have the same problem, if you find the fix please post it. It is the only problem I have with the car and like you said it is very annoying.

Hey, I have a very similar problem but I sometimes hear the creaking, ticking, and groaning when I'm [getting] out of the car.

I have found that if I take my glucosamine/chondroitin regularly, the creaks go away. :p

I am having this issue too. And I only happens when it is warm outside. Did anyone manage to get this resolved?
