  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking to purchase a dashcam soon and wanted to ask for personal experiences. Please let me know which dash cam you suggest and maybe some cons you've faced when using it. Thanks in advance

I can't recommend a dash cam as I still have not purchased one yet, but I can recommend this mirror tap. The price just dropped from 33 to 20 bucks. I think I am going to order one now for the future when I get mine in case the price goes back up. I will follow your post for recommendations
It is real simple to do and takes about 5 minutes. Others have said it works on the GV80.

When it comes to dash cams there are so many to choose that it might be hard to choose one. Some dash cam that record 1080p, 2K and 4K which is the best resolution to pick since it’ll capture most of the detail when recording.
There are dash cams that come 1 Channel (Front), 2 CH (Front & Rear) and 3 Channel (Front, Inside Cabin & rear). Also most of them are Wifi and there are some that are LTE ready. Some of the best dash cam considered premium are Thinkware and Blackvue and cheaper option is VIOFO.
I personally installed the Thinkware U1000 - 2CH in my 2019 G80 with a separate hotspot to have access anytime in live view, also the PowerCell 8 + CellinkNeo Ext battery packs which is hardwired to these batteries instead from the car battery to prevent damaging over time.

The dongle adapter is great to use when not using hardwire kit to the car fuses and minimize the wiring and just using it when the car is on. I’ve seen great reviews from people using this adapter with the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2.

Some great info posted above. Here's a link to a site that has a wealth of information on dash cams and should help you decide which is right for you:

A car is not a friendly place for electronics, buy the cheap one with the features you're looking for. An expensive one will die just the same... Personally, I've always just used Viofo dashcams, they do the job. My first dashcam was a Blackvue and it died after a year.

Used an A119 in my Sonata and transferred it to my Genesis. When I got the G90, I bought the A139 and only connected two channels for front and rear.

You’ve got a great point sometimes buying a more expensive item might not the best idea compared to a cheaper option but it depends you get lucky. In my case I bought the U1000 since I wanted to connect to a hotspot, use some of the CLOUD features and the live view especially when my car is getting serviced at the dealer or such. As for the VIOFO I’ve heard great thing about it and it doesn’t break the bank in price. There are so many options in dash cams that it might hard to choose!
