  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So last night sucked. First off, I am beyond grateful that my wife is ok and was only shaken up. A deer decided to emulate Dumbo literally flying into the side of my car at a full steam which caused it to recoil back towards the direction it was coming from, flying through the air about 30 feet. My wife was driving, following me with our children in our other car, and luckily she wasn't a millisecond further or it would've probably come through the driver's window. I don't know if I'll get another one, it depends on what deals are out there once I get my insurance check. It sucks because I really enjoyed the car and looked forward to having it for several years. With the cost of parts for these things, I highly doubt it won't be totaled out by my insurance company. At least USAA is more than kind with the amount they give when totaling a vehicle.

I am very sorry to hear of your unfortunate run-in and I am glad to hear that everyone is okay. Also good to hear that insurance is being helpful. Yes, it would be great to not have to go thru with something like this but if you had to, I would say this is one of the better outcomes. I wish you that the new year will bring a new ride and newer happy memories.

If you can get a headlight from a junk yard and duct tape it in place you would be good to go. Hardly noticeable. Hint: Paint over the duct tape with gloss black paint, not flat latex.

Hope you can get a good deal on a new one.

Glad everyone is ok.

Glad everyone is alright. Well, 'cept the deer...

Hope you can get back into another Genesis.

That's very unfortunate. Thank God your wife is safe.

I am glad everyone is ok.

These things are built like a tank. I know how you feel, as I lost the 13 R-Spec in the same way, exactly one year ago

Good news to hear no one was hurt. Cars can be repair or replaced. My wife had a deer run in front her in our old car before we got the Genesis and did some damage to it. Luckily she wasn't hurt either.

Thanks everyone. I’ve found some for sale that look good, I now just have to wait for the insurance company to issue payment. Since the bank still owned it I have no idea how long it will take for them to send the title and if that will hold up my money. Hopefully it will get resolved the week after Christmas and I can road trip to pick up my new to me car.

glad everyone is OK! hopefully it all works out for a ney genny

Thank goodness you are not dealing with the Hyundai finance office. The accident would seem like a non-event compared to dealing with them.

Hearing that, I don’t know if I’ll ever go through them. I usually go through my credit union anyway.
