  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just purchased a brand new GV80. The dealer is pressuring me to purchase under coating, sound guard, paint and corrosion protection, fabric and leather protection for $2900.
I have been apprehensive to do this since I have read that new cars really don’t need fabric protection and the paint and rust proofing is generally done at the factory when the car is built the dealer is really pressuring me and said they don’t understand why I would not want to protect my $72,000 investment. What is everyone’s thoughts are any of these services worth it?

Why are you denying the dealer the extra $2750 profit? He's a nice guy just looing out for you.

Skip the undercoat and any auto shop has upholstery protectors if you desire. Other's here can recommend a particular brand. Undercoating is just so 1980's.

Unless there is anything you actually want, do not take it. Get PPF and/or ceramic coating to protect the paint. A good detailer can put protection onto the leather (including ceramic). Undercoating is not needed on modern cars. Genesis comes with plenty of sound guard, so again, not needed.

I agree with the others. If there is anything on this list you really want you can get it from an indy shop cheaper and most likely better. The fact the dealer is still pressuring you shows how profitable it is for them.

Thank you everyone for your responses that’s what I thought so I appreciate the heads up I will look into the PPF.
Unfortunately the 2.5 engine that I purchased even with the prestige package does not come with Napa leather. I did email Genesis and said that packages for both engines should have the Napa leather not just the 3.5 but oh well. If anybody can recommend a leather conditioner that I can maybe soften the seats a tad I am old lol I would appreciate it thanks to all and stay safe and healthy. PS love the car
