I ordered a touch up paint pen from my local Hyundai-Genesis store and it arrived the next day. When I fetched it the parts manager said, in reply to my question, that H-G has in the past recycled paint codes for newer makes and models and new paint formulae. Thus the three character code must also include year, make and model to be sure.
He accompanied me to the parking area to test in an inconspicuous spot and the match was perfect. He also touched my tiny door edge ding and it is now invisible. He said not to bother returning to the desk to pay, it was a gift (26$+tax)
In our conversation he said their shop has no techs who work on Genesis exclusively. The techs have a hierarchy based on experience and range of experience and the highest receive Genesis training and work on those models that are booked as they enter. Lower level tech would do only oil change, battery replacement, wheel rotation and the like.
He said Genesis is selling 30/month (all models) at his store. The Genesis.com inventory site shows this store with 70 G70 currently so perhaps he is correct. That seems high to me but he knows better than I.
I have never seen a G70 in the wild in Charlotte.
Edit: I did not tell him I bought at the nearest competitor. I thought best not to bring it up.
