  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just bought a 2018 G80 Sport. Dealer offering 10 yr/1000,000 warranty on all the technology in the car. Genesis warranty is 3yr/36,000 on technology/electronics. It’s pricey. $2,200. But with all the technology in the car and the cost of repairs/replacement makes me think. Thoughts on this appreciated.

Wrong. Starting with MY 2016, all parts of the car have a 5 years/60,000 mile New Car Warranty (same as all Hyundai's).

The only exceptions are as follows:

  • Paint: 3 years/36,000 miles
  • Battery: for MY 2016 and beyond, 3 years/36,000 miles (no proration)
  • Air conditioner refrigerant charge: 1 year/unlimited miles
  • Adjustments: 1 year/12,000 miles
  • Wear items: 1 year/12,000 miles (e.g., belts, brake pads and linings, clutch linings, filters, wiper blades, bulbs and fuses)

As Mark_888 pointed out, you have more warranty. About impossible to find on the website. Seems the dealer is misleading you with the 3 year service. As for the value for the additional time, that depends on your tolerance to exposure to high repair cost and how long you intend to keep the car.

You did get a book with the car just for warranty. See page 12 for a summary and a couple of pages later it lists wear items not covered.

Thanks for the replies. The dealer finance manager straight up lied to me about the 3yr/36,000 warranty on the electronics/technology in the car!! Really glad I found the Forum! Thanks again! I won't be buying the "Costguard." Instead I'll guard my wallet!

Hey guys I have a 2017 G80 I am trying to get rid off if anybody is interested or is looking to upgrade.

Shocking! A car dealer finance person lied.

But if you're planning to keep the car for longer, there is some worth in the extended warranty. For example, my Genesis is now into its 7th year with only 36,000 miles on the odo. My Costguard warranty runs till 2024. I may pass the car on to my Son at some point, but I expect the car to be on the road till at least 2024. The most comprehensive Costguard warranty cost me $1,295.00. I bought it just before the car turned three. It has nearly paid for itself already. The rear sunshade motor died (got noisy) and the exhaust system needed some expensive parts. Personally, I would never own a luxury car that has exhausted its warranty coverage on expensive parts such as radio, Nav, HVAC components, and powertrain.
