  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dealer told me 2nd Owners can't buy the HPP 10 year, 100k Mile Warranty

I bought a 15 Ultimate AWD last month with 15,800 miles on it from CarMax. I stopped by a nearby Hyundai dealer yesterday to get prices on the extended warranty for 10 years, 100,000 miles. The finance manager told me that specific warranty is only available to the first owner. The longest coverage she said I could get as the 2nd owner would be 6 years, 85,000 miles. That would only cover me for 1 year or 25k miles past the factory warranty. Do any of you know if a second owner can get the Hyundai 10 year 100,000 mile warranty? I'm a little concerned because of all the electronics on the car and the short 3 year, 36k mile warranty on the radio. I'd like to have the extra coverage.

As people mentioned below your warranty is shorter because you are a 2nd owner of a none CPO vehicle. You can purchase a none CPO extended warranty for your car through carmax or any dealer that sells them. it would probably be cheaper if you contacted several dealer finance department directly and ask for quotes. I had 1 though Fidelity for up to 100k miles with a $50 deductible.

Thanks for replying. I'll keep checking like you suggested, to find the best deal out there.
