dealership 100 miles away

Am i crazy, i have 2012 genesis g80 that i get serviced at the local Hyundai all has been good, i really want to get a newer model looking at 2023 but my issue is my closest Genesis dealership is around 2 hours away. I can get the 23 oil changes and basics done locally but warranty etc i would have a 2 hour drive each way. Am i crazy to buy this or should i just get something local??

Depends on how big a deal the 3 hour ride is for you. If I really wanted the car, I'd do it. I've driven that far just to go to dinner at a place I like.

As for being crazy, not enough information. Your wife can probably give a good answer though.

She says I’m driving her crazy deciding on a car. But normally keep them along time so want to do it right. I guess if it’s once or twice a year trip no big deal. But my current genesis had a transmission issue that took weeks to work out.
Guess I’m stuck with the normal cars every one buys.

There have been many posts in here of Hyundai dealerships saying they aren't allowed to service Genesis vehicles. I would be concerned that this could happen and you would be stuck with a service dealer 100 miles away.

If Genesis were the only good vehicle, I would say: take the chance. But there are lots of good vehicles out there. I absolutely love my GV60P but, for example, if you can stand the looks the BMWs drive great and there are now some terrific local deals on Lucids (but you don't say where you are so you might have the same service issues with Lucid).

it doesn’t make sense to get another Genesis without a local dealership.

If there’s a local Lexus dealership, maybe wait a few months to evaluate the ‘25 model year offerings.

I don't know that this is completely accurate. I know they will not perform WARRANTY service on Genny vehicles anymore - and Genny will not reimburse would-be warranty work or scheduled maintenance that is done there. But pretty much any independent, certified shop - or dealership - would be able to do basic services, and even r/r repairs. Anything specialized or proprietary to Genny of course wouldn't be likely. Either way - costs would come out of your pocket.
